Did You Become Overtaken By LED's?

i noticed a lot of people have upgraded from the stock bulbs to LED's either from Tec_toyz on ebay or Superbright LED's. im wondering how many people on this board actually switched out the stock bulbs for LED's and what color you used. I myself switched to all blue and Superwhites in the vanity and trunk.

I only swapped out the door bulbs with PIAA blue LEDs.
The stock domes, trunk, license plate and reverse lights were replaced with PIAA Super Whites.

I get compliments on the upgraded lighting all the time

just ordered mine today....

super white led's for the domes and hopefully the visors (if I can figure it out lol )
and blue led's for the doors...

I took the advice of you guys and hope it looks better, stock bulbs are too yellowish and old looking especially with the nice blue gauges in the dash, the blue doors should look nice...

I'll post pics.

For the PIAA back up bulbs use the W2 Bulb thats the bulb type not part # but look at piaa.com and you'll find it.

I'm keeping mine stock. I dig the look as it is, therefore I don't see the need or desire to do so. Plus I hear that the LEDs produce less light than the stock bulbs. Can anyone comment on this?

The PIAA W2 bulbs I used for the reverse lights are not necessarily brighter than the stock bulbs.... I did it purely for asthetic purposes, since I swapped out my license plate bulbs.

Here's the PIAA part# 19224, model# H-224E
12V/18W W2 Xtreme White H.I.D. bulb

I got mine from Import Performance Warehouse for about $11. They have great customer service and ship quickly. I'm happy with the way everything turned out and as I said before, I get tons of compliments on the lighting scheme

Now if only I could figure out how to get the damn vanity light assemblies out, I'd be all set!!! I found the thread that shows how to changes these out, but I can't seem to find the release tab for the lenses

i changed out the vanity mirrors, you need a screw driver to do this and theres a high risk of bending the metal frame as i did, when you wedge the screw driver inbetween the cloth and the bulb cover, theres a a metal cover under the bulb cover, if you can pry inbetween the metal and the bulb cover it will come right out. you have to pry from the right middle side though because theres a little release tab on the side, the bulb is hooked up in some sort of mini lighting console and the bulb comes right out.

I have all blue leds and yes there is less light. However I prefer the awesome look at night when openeing doors/unlocking with remote, etc to the usability of a bright light. Things are still readable, but you would have to use the vanity mirrors to add more light if you wanted. With the GPS navigation I dont have any need to read maps in the car anyway

Lister,
I have replied to a few threads about LEDs and I always advise to use standard wedge bulbs in the dome locations (F&R).

Because of the way LEDs emit light (forward only, although I have seem LEDs that have a wider dispersion pattern), they do decrease the amout of light shining down into the cabin because they are not using the mirrored surface behind the dome lenses.

If you want to do the blue lighting, you can always use Raybrig or Polarg colored wedge bulbs.... I haven't done this myself (I think blue lighting with camel interior takes away from the beauty of the camel color... just MHO), but I would imagine it would look similar to the LEDs and provide the same amount of light as stock.
