Did the free LED tail light mod (again). Few pics inside!
As you all know should know by now I like lighting and posting pics. Last year I discovered how to remove the rear tail light LED diffuser without having to cut open your tail lights. Im not going to get into details as I already did on a previous thread, but for those that missed it here are a couple pics of the mod done to my newest TL (08 Type S). LOVE the look! And for those that dont know the difference, doing this mod basically gives you the more defined LED look similar to most newer cars or Audi's to be more specific. The TL has a lens diffuser which diffuses the light. Most new cars dont do this to get that fancier LED look. It can be done for free to our TL's :-) Sorry I forgot to take comparison pics, but if you would just imagine instead of seeing individual LED's, you just see a solid bar of light with the stock diffuser.
Here is the link to my previous thread which has the how-to and additional pics. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/i-am-genius-tail-light-mod-without-cutting-up-tail-light-pics-inside-844692/
Enjoy!

This looks cool and all, but I can't help but feel like Acura put the diffusers in there for a good reason. IMO the lights look at tad dim without them. Obviously the brightness of the LEDs is unchanged, but I feel like the diffusers take what would otherwise be a pinprick of light and spreads it over a wider area, making it appear brighter. You can sort of see what I mean in the pics.
With diffusers:

Anyways, not trying to hate. It does look cooler without the diffusers, I just can't help feeling like they're there for a good reason though.

Agreed. Obviously the diffusers are there to expand light output. My friend did this to his Type-S and I wasn't sure how I felt about it. Regular driving looks great, but the light is less defined when tapping the breaks. IMO, it would look great with upgraded bulbs.
