Detailing the car

Hey guys another quick question for y'all. I want to get my TL-S detailed soon, (after a year of driving) and I was thinking about taking it to Details Detail Details in Rockville Pike. 175 for the entire job? Is that a good price?

But then again, once I get it detailed and I need to take it back to dealership for service, those techs are just going to ruin it with oil stains. What is a man to do to keep things clean?

What are your thoughts on detailing your cars?

I would do all the work myself.

Saves money and you feel a great deal of pride afterwards.

Yeah if you have the ability to do it, wash and detail it yourself. I do it once a week, it gives me a nice sense of accomplishment seeing the finished product and believe it or not is relaxing to me. Plus, you dont have to worry about anyone else messing up / scratching / ruining your clearcoat or interior pieces.

175 will not give you a QUALITY job, especially if you are a perfectionist and want correction as well. You are looking probably close to 400 if not more, for the ultimate job.

DIY is possible, go to the wash/wax section like Bearcat stated

175 sounds like alot. You can spend a fraction of that if you get your own detailing items that you can use over and over. I use the turtle wax "ice" line of cleaners. They have the wash, the liquid polish and the interior cleaner. It works very well. All you need is a bucket, a sponge, a towel, and some microfiber towels. Plus like everyone is saying, it does feel great once you're done and see how aweome your TL looks. I prefer not to have anyone else clean my car. Good luck!

I think wash and wax is a more appropriate area for this thread, and I will close. We can't move threads, so feel free to restart it there.
