Hello AcuraZine, a friend and forum member who owns an 07 Type S directed me here as the enthusiast website for Acuras.
I'm hoping to join your ranks. I've put down a deposit on a 2008 TL. One-owner, lady driven, Pearl White on tan, bought and serviced at the dealership it's selling at. Full records. Non-navi, but that doesn't bother me much.
The mileage? 48,000 km (just under 30,000 miles). $17,888.
It's a 7 or 8 year old car at this point but I still feel as if this is a great deal.
As to what pointed me to the 3rd Gen TL, it was pretty simple. If I wanted a reliable sports sedan for a DD, I knew I had to go premium Japanese. The IS is RWD and so I couldn't really run it in the winter, and have no place for vehicle storage of a 2nd car. The Subie's AWD is great in winter but a waste the other 8 mo. of the year. FWD isn't ideal for taking corners, but this isn't a track rat and besides, all reports indicate the TL handles very well for FWD.
No links or pictures or VIN at this point - its an incoming trade-in that I've been given a line on. I'll have those by Saturday, and if all checks out will be buying on Tuesday.
I paid $16,700 back in June for my 08 w/Navi, 67k on the mileage. Under 30k miles with a lady driver and access to all previous maintenance is definitely a plus for you! You should take a look at the threads on here about transmissions. Apparently, the old Honda/Acura trans fluid (Z1) isn't a good fluid and you'll want to replace it with the new fluid (DW1). Or, many people on here use Redline D4.
$17,888 for a 08 with that low mileage isn't bad...
In my opinion it's too much and I wouldn't pay that much unless it was a Type-S but than again that mileage is very low.
Yes, this is good Type S with navi money, but the mileage makes this a reasonable price.

From my brief reading of the forums here, I know that I can put in the factory unit, but its pricey. I find I don't need satnav in my life very much at all. Google maps, smartphones, paper maps usually do the job. And if I feel the need, I could just bolt on a modern unit and wire it into the battery.
Seems fair and thats nice low mileage so why the heck not :-) non-navi kind of stinks as I feel that the navi equipped cars really completes the interior. Without it I feel the dash looks kind of weird, but maybe thats because im only used to navi equipped TL's.
Either way if its mint and you like it, go for it!

I agree, the non-navi doesn't look proper, but I can live with it for the time being.
Would probably swap it out for the factor nav - I hear $1800 from a dealer or so - or maybe even put in a Android Nexus tablet.
Full use of that big screen space makes the car look very modern.
seems like a good idea to me as well. i just paid 23,000 for my type S with 19k miles. So your getting a TL with under 30,000 miles for almost 18K? Congrats! post some pictures once you have it all shined up! ENJOY!
But honestly, you could totally roll an IS with proper snow tires in the winter. With today's advanced traction control systems and snow tire technology, it's not an issue like it used to be. GF's G35 with Blizzaks was better in the snow last winter than my TL with all season Bridgestone RE960's.
Was sent some pics by the dealer. Not very good ones, but there really isn't much to see here. It seems as advertised. I mean look at the condition of the driver's seat: hardly any wear at all, you can barely see any creases.
I asked for close up of the tires, and they appear to be Michelin Pilots - OEM on the 08 TL, yes? So 7-8 year old rubber. I'm going to have him replace the tires and pay the full price of $17,888 or offer him $17,000.
There is a good chance that they are the originals especially on an 08 with less than 30k. Infact the original Bridgestone's came off my Type S less than a year ago and were made in 2006! The 08 Type S I had prior to my current one was an 08 bought with 24k miles and sold at low 30's also with originals Michelins.
Just look at the tires build date which is stamped on the side. That will tell ya.
Im still on OEM tires. 2407 build date so 24th week of 2007 they were made. Surprised they still have almost half the tread in 34k miles. How long are these susposed to last.
Price seems fair. I wasn't as worried about the mileage when I picked up my TLS versus the condition that it came in. Rust free & not a scratch or dent on the body & interior was most important. You'd be surprised how much quicker a car ages with salt & harsh winters.
Pulled the trigger today. Taking delivery on Tuesday next week
Closely inspected the tires: they are original, made in 2007.
However, you wouldn't know it by looking at them. Tread is still very good, sidewall is pristine with no cracking. The dealer will safety certify, but the tires will likely pass.
So since they seem to have some life left in them, this actually works out well for me. I'll ride them until the onset of winter, then buy winter performance tires. Then with my tax refund in the spring I'll get me some Type S wheels and summer performance tires.
Once I take delivery and get a few miles under my belt I'll post some pics and a mini-review. Thanks all for your help! Looking forward to participating in the AZ community.
congrats!
if you don't plan on getting an Aspec kit, definitely get painted mud guards. They're less than $100 and will look so much better than those black ones...
