Dented alum trim with seatbelt
My wife, a sweetheart and long time car destroyer keeps getting in and jamming the seatbelt into the general area of hoping to get it in (problem is that the seatbelt is right buy the pretty alum in the tan colors). this dents very easily and now three. I was wondering what was doing this until I studied her getting in.
Should I mention the time she backed into the garage with the door open and jammed it in the sheetrock. She put a poster over the hole to hide it. Funny gal. Anyone else notice this on their cars?

I had a hang over the other week after the super bowl and I got into my car not thinking and jammed the seatbelt into the aluminum trim. I was so Pis**d. It kind of is unnoticeable but it does seem to dent very easy.....reminding me of foil.

Just how hard do you JAM your seat belt in? I'm thinking it must be at least a 2 feet vertical dive hoping for the goal from reading the above posts. Sounds like some very unlucky stabs. Maybe it's time to put on the Faux.

Yes! these dents/dings are unavoidable. One thing you can do is use both the hands to put the belt in. Usually one hand pull and fumbling for the catch is the culprit. Also, putting tape or 3M material will not avoid this IMHO. It will avoid the scratch but not the dings.

I'm going to consider the aluminum trim as a wear item that has to be replaced every couple oil changes, and not worry about whether it gets ding'd or not.

Hmmmm, for $80 a pop, I'm thinking that I would be a little bit more careful with putting on the seatbelt or getting in and out of the car. That's more than I want to spend every few trips to the service shop.

Someone's dealer ever replaced his alum trim free due to warranty issue months ago. Thus, if your service workers scratch over your trim, make the dealer replace for you. My dream!

Nope, I've got no holes in any of my sheetrock. Oh, wait you were interested in an answer about the trim. No, I dont have any. But then again, I'm pretty good about clicking the belt in, and taking it out. Making sure I dont slam the window on the way out, nor the trim on the way in.
