Arrow December TL Record & Acura Sets All-Time Sales Record For 2004

Five December Records Help Make 2004 Best Year in Acura History

Torrance, Calif. 01/04/2005 --

A record December, driven by record sales of the all-new RL luxury performance sedan, MDX luxury SUV, TL performance luxury sedan and TSX sports sedan gave Acura its 15th consecutive record breaking month and a new all-time annual sales record for 2004. Year-end Acura sales of 198,919 finished up 16.0 percent from 2003, and eclipsed the previous year-end sales record of 170,918 set in 2003.

"In an industry riddled with incentives and struggling to reach last years sales numbers, Acura bucked the trend by offering products that consumers wanted and as a result, reaped a 16 percent sales increase for 2004," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, auto sales.
  • December Acura sales of 20,146 were up 24.9 percent compared to last year, and shattered the previous all-time monthly sales record of 18,547 set in May 2004.

  • For the second consecutive month, the RL luxury performance recorded its best month ever with sales of 1,967 units, surpassing the previous record of 1,941 units set in November 2004.

  • The TL performance luxury sedan was Acura's top-selling model for the 15th straight month with December sales of 7,211, up 18.6 percent over last year. The TL ended the year as the top selling luxury sedan in the U.S. for 2004.

  • The MDX luxury SUV, set a new all-time monthly sales record of 6,238 units in December, surpassing the previous record of 5,788 set in December 2003 and also set its fifth consecutive annual sales record.

  • The TSX sports sedan, recently named to Car & Driver magazine's 10 Best Cars list, registered 3,004 sales, pushing year-to-date sales to a record 30,365 units, up 59.9 percent over 2003.

I definitely wish sales of the TL would go down so I can get a good deal on one when I am finally rid of my 03 Outlander. If sales are so good they won't be so willing to deal

I sent the papers in today for my cousin to takeover the payments, about 37 payments of 60 with 0 pct interest. I hope his credit is not over extended otherwise I'll have to keep the f'ing Mitsubishi another 6 months or so when what I owe is more in line with what it is worth.

Well it's great to hear that Acura is doing well, but with all these TLs on the road, it's gonna be like having an Accord. You go to the parking lot and see a bunch of cars that look just like yours.

Wow! Take THAT, Lexus and Infiniti! Being the best-selling luxury sedan is a plus and a minus....plus is that many people see what we do in the car. Minus.....there are going to be more of the car around. I remember when I had one of the only ones on the road.....that seems so long ago now.....

its starting to sell so much that its turnging into a mid-luxury car, i bought my TL hoping to just get a cheaper and as luxirious car but its not turning out to be that, acura should make vehicles more like the RL they should discontinue the RSX and turn the TSX into a COUPE but make it more expensive, they need a convertible, THEY NEED MORE! the RL is a great start to a luxury path

Well, the TL glut hasn't hit here yet. I can still go a week or so without seeing another one, and mine still gets admiring stares.

Another minus is there is less incentive for Acura to fix the existing issues.
Case in point, the 2001-2003 trannies.
