DDM/Apexcone HID

As the topic states, got a question on the DDM HIDs. and only reason why i made this thread was cause i search and didnt find a conclusive answer as to is there a difference in the different bulb from the 2 different manufactures. i know that DDM's website says they have the slim raptor kit with the DDM logo and the reg apexcone raptor kit.

Heres my situation. when i installed my accord fog lights onto my 06 TL i order the complete DDM Slim raptor kit 3000k along with the bulb (H11 i know), and installed it. had a thread about it too anyways, shortly after one of the bulb went out ( i believe due to installation?) one good thing was DDM had the lifetime warrenty on their kits so i called and had them sent back. a new one came back within the week and installed it today. Now heres the fishy part. i got back the apexcone bulbs with the fog harness stuff etc. that really didnt throw me off too much until i turn them on at night.

i notice that the hue of the 3000k wasnt as bright as my first set. ( also had the gf in my car and she noticed that it wasnt as bright as my last set) Bottom line is anyone run into this situation before? also since my ballast(DDM slim raptor kit) wasnt sent back just the bulbs, i should harrass them about getting the DDM type bulbs with my ddm slim kit?

how long did you run your first set because it takes like 100 hours for the bulb to brake in.

i have use ddm tunning on all my hid and bulb, i have replace the low/high ds2 with their 6k bulb and they look niceeeeee, have the slim raptors in my fog lights 6k.

I thought DDM only cover the lifetime on the ballast and not the bulbs?

i would think that the bulbs would be the same for both kits and only the ballast would be different. how did you verify you got a different set of bulbs back?

the first set was used for no more than a week after installation...and mostly used at night.

-its not really a different bulb its still H11 for the accord fogs, but the plastic housing is different and by looking at the bulb it looks different from the first. the first set had the plastic ring around where you have to cut it to get it off...while the (apexcone) one that i got back from replacement is with a plastic screw off with tape. also got a sticker that says Apexcone on it with some adhevsie sticks cutouts for the ballast. - the original never had that. also the warm up phase is different as well.

my first set from DDM (ballast + bulb) when first turned on it goes mad green like the freaken hulk was being lit up. and then it takes a bit to go to bright yellow. and i mean bright yellow...

The second set i got back still turned on green when first lit up but it is faster upon reaching the yellow hue. now this yellow hue is in a way more towards the deeper yellow...also like its in a faded yellow. and also driving around at night (and both times with both sets its around the same roads) the first set does light up more and is brighter...

-and yes only if you get their HID kits then it comes with a lifetime warranty. but seeing its the labor day weekend i guess i gotta wait till tuesday or so to harrass them. hopefully they wont try to feed me some bs saying the bulbs are the same...EVEN tho its a completely different company that they have. And yes these things do get on my nerves...lol also will try to take some comparsion pics of my first set and this set. first set is here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/accord-fogs-787688/

Here is the pics i took tonight on the Apexcone set..

-if you compare this to my first set it is more in the deeper yellow/faded area...

The light output isnt as strong either....

and after the initial warm up stage it stays as a lighter/w less output of an HID aspect..

Shot this pic in a empty parking lot with my flash...

and same shot w/o flash. to me it looks mad bright white and loses its yellow touch

- so by looking at these you can see that the apexcone type bulbs from DDMtuning makes the HID output off color versus that from DDM bulbs. i conclude that this is simply a cheaper bulb and thats why they dont really sell them anymore or customers simply buy the slim ballast Raptor vs and will get the actually DDM bulbs.

are your housings aimed correctly? since its an 06 the fogs had to have been custom.. maybe when you uninstalled the DDM kit and installed the new bulbs something got moved? im not trying to say that you're making wrong assumptions that the bulb is different, but you should check that too? good luck

i was thinking about that but from the installation we had to place a fitment that the mounting of the housings would go into and it would always be in the same spot.
