Dashboard Air Vents malfunction or is it just like this?

I'm not sure whether my center dashboard air vents are broken or not? The seem very weak or not sure if they are even on compared to the side vents. They seem ok for A/C but when I use the heater, they seem very very very weak if not broken. Am I doing something wrong or is it just like this for all TL. Let me know your input guys. I was thinking about bringing it into the dealer on Monday.

The heater deflects the air downwards, because most people want their feet to get warm and not their head or face. You can press the mode switch and change the air direction manually if you want to.

But as far as all you TL owners, do you center vents seem weaker than the side vents? I would think that if i put the side vents at max, the center vent would also be the same.

I think this is a peculiarity of the vehicle. Mine is the same.

Um I believe manual says "to send more air to center, close side vents".

It's more cuz hot air rises while cold air sinks, so it's more efficient to warm-up the whole car's interior temp from the bottom up.

^It would actually be more efficient to warm the car in the most distributed way possible, using all vents, instead of squeezing all the power through just the lower vents.

If you close the side vents the center vent should blow harder because you are squeezing all the air through there, not distributing it among all the sides. Also try closing off the rear vents.

so this should not be a defect for my car? I would figure that max out the vents would distibute all the vents equally? or am I wrong here? Should I not bring it to the dealers attention?

Mine work the same way. If you want more even air flow from the vents try shutting the outer ones half way, keeping the inners fully open. It might be close to what you want.

I also close the rear seat vents at the back of the center console, this also helps to have more flow to the front and also keeps your coke cold in the cup homder!
