Dash issue on 04 TL
Anyone have an idea what a dash would cost (not including the mesh part) ?
I accidentally scratched my dash with my fingernail when I was detailing (trying to get the discoloration out).
It was a pretty deep scratch and tried to use 2000 grit sandpaper with soapy water to smooth down the scratch (I know stupid bonehead idea !!!!!) and now it is pretty F'ed up.
Does anyone know if anyone can repair a damage dash or should I just go ahead and replace it ?

Before you go ahead and spend the big bucks to replace the dash I would check with a local automotive interior shop. I know that there are several places that can dye and refurbish worn out interiors including leather and vinyl damage. Might call around to a few reputable shops and see if they can help.

It's not so much the cost of the dash as how much it will cost to remove and install, and most people would rather have a root canal than go through the changing of the dash.
But, since you asked, heres the info on the prices. List 490.63, your cost 392.50 plus shipping.

What are the odds that I complain about my dash discoloring, blame the crack on the sun and also complain about some rattling and try to get a new one under warranty?
Also what do you think the labor might be to install a new dash not covered under warranty ? Any ideas ?

I'd definitely check with your dealership, sales or service, to find out who they use locally to repair vinyl, leather. I use a guy that can mend vinyl/leather with texture and you couldn't tell where the damage was.
Yeah, the bulletin for cleaning the discumbobulator material is good. I picked up Honda cleaner and polish from a Honda dealership and it looks like new. That stuff is great on metal and plastic!

Update on damage to TL dash ....
After reviewing my options to replacing or fixing my dash
Option 1 - $500 (new dash) + $736 (installation / 8 hrs) = $1236
Option 2 - $95 to repair by a skilled upholstery leather and vinyl repair guy
I went with option 2. I know it is not perfect but I wasn't going to pay out over $1100 more and have the potential risk of new rattles and other damage the Acura dealer may have caused installing the new dash.

It's not perfect but hey it was only $95 to fix ... If you look really close and certain angles of the sunlight hitting it and your looking for it, you can barely see the mark....
