Check this out:

350Z - Tires cost about $1200.00 - $1500.00 or more (for 4), and you're going to replace them about once a year., every (12-14 months)

.: from www.tirerack.com :.(((( Rear: 245/45YR18 Serv. Desc: 96Y Price ea: $246 Estimated Availability: In Stock ))) (not including tax and shipping)

For the price you spend just on tires for the 350Z you can lease a KIA. ($99 a month)

Sorry.. that's just funny to me.

You have to pay to play The A-spec tires are just as bad and just as expensive like most performance tires.

Wow! Cant believe this thread is still going. Yeah- I have since purchased and installed the AEM intake and the COMPTECH rear sway bar. I LIKE!!! Anyway because of my lack of understanding about N02, Ive decided not to have my car 'on the bottle'. Like many, Im eagerly awaiting the comptech supercharger! And no corvette for me, 2 seats and bad mpg. Not economical at this point in my life.

Is this common? and if so what will get me goin' a little faster? by the way- Im new here and theres probably tons of stuff about this somewhere, but any help would be great! thanks.

I have no ideea how you lost to a G35. My friend has a 2004 G35 sedan and we raced 2 times and I smoked him every time. Then we switched cars and he smoked me with my 2005 TL which BTW hapens to be automatic, however I always use SS when racing.
A few days ago I had an encounter with a 2005 G35 sedan that had passed me while I was driving down the street. We got to a red light, I turned my VSA off and waited. His lane was ending on about 250 feet ahead and I sensed that he would try to cut me off. Green light turned on and I had this incredible launch. We ran neck to neck for about 200 feet and he realized the lane he was driving on was coming to an end and merged behind me. We part at next red light and I could see he was really pissed off.

True, G35 coupe is a winner. BTW I read a while back ago on a BMW forum how a M3 owner struggled pretty bad to smoke a G35 coupe.

Seriously something is not right with your friends G, although impressive the TL cannot hang with G especialll down low. That is where the 3.5 Nissans/Infinitis shine and easily have more pull than the TL up top its closer.

I am about to make the move from my TSX to a TL, but went to test drive an '05 G35 sedan 6MT today. Overall ... I was underwhelmed. I actually had an '03 G35 and most of my concerns are still there - interior being the biggest. I mean there is no doubt there is punch there, but the VQ just doesn't seem to deliver it as well as I recall my CL-S doing it (and I expect for the TL to be very similar to that).

Anyway ... I think the difference in speed is darn near negligable on the street, but the features and interior advantage of the TL is something that will be in your face constantly!

A friend just bought a G35 sedan, and showed it off to me. I haven't looked at one since I got my TL in Dec when I test/drove etc. I was much more underwhelmed this time. I have gotten use to how nice the interior of the TL really is. I was suprised how much my opinion changed. Particulary since I convinced my friend to look at and buy the G35. It is a nice car for him, but I've gotten spoiled. Anyone else take a 2nd look at the G35 after they got the TL? And NO I am not trying to justify my purchase, (which was at the time biased by the size of the rear seat, (3 kids)).

Notice how nobody ever really compares the TL to a G35 sedan, it's almost always the G35 coupe or the 350Z when this comes up?

I think the 350Z might be on the lite side.

I would not mind too much of a G35 COUPE or 350Z pulled away a little, but I'm sure a CAI would level the playing field.

I think those coupes are sharp, but we are having a baby so a coupe was problematic plus my 98 Firebird is a coupe. And it will put buslengths on a G35 coupe.

I like all the stats about how many ponies per liter or per pound etc. It all depends on where the power is and gearing. Nothing is linear.

The 3.2 and 3.5 honda engines have 11:1 compression the VQ 10.3:1 All they have to do is match the compression ratio and you'll see a big difference in how the VQ performs over its current configuration.

One thing I did find funny was that nissan decided to take away torque and provide more HP and guess what... Recent tests show that in the 0-60 test the 35th anniversary 300 hp 350 Zs were slower than the 287 HP 04. They gave up 14 ft pounds of torque on the lower end for a faster top end. It just takes a little more time to get there now...

There is nothing wrong with my friends car.He got this car last month with only 16K on it, it is like new. TL can hang with any G35 sedan regardless down low or top.

I checked on comptech's website and there IS NOT A SUPERCHARGER FOR THE 3RD GEN TL...

Has anyone gotten a level 3 engine job from comptech? I know an expensive way to add about 40 hp, but If a supercharger installed is about the same cost for an extra 50 hp (if you are not installing it yourself) then why not go that route.

Are the engine mods CARB compliant, etc.
