Paint flaking on muffler tips

Anyone having this problem where the black paint is flaking off your tips? My paint also above (the wrap around bumper) is all messed up about 10" all around. The paint looks like it dirty or something.

Yes...

Yeah, the paint is coming off the rear mufflers. Judging by the pattern it's being sandblasted off by road spray.

Unless the effort is made to really degrease the metal, paint doesn't adhere too well to this type of component. To be honest, I wish they hadn't even bothered to paint the parts. If the parts are made from a corrosion resistant metal, as most exhaust systems are these days, there's really no need for the paint except for appearance purposes. In this case it ends up looking worse than if they'd just left the metal bare.

Just get some black high temp paint.

-or-

Report it to your dealer. They've repainted others mufflers in the past.

Not the tips.

The rest of the muffler (the black part).

It's not chrome. It's polished stainless steel. The inside is coated with some kind of black coating. Not sure if it's paint or not. Should have been powder coated. Regardless, it can be taken off, cleaned and repainted.
