Damaged steering wheel, what now???

Hi everyone, since you are so helpful here, I have a question for you before I blindly run to the stealership.

While I was driving home, I received a very bad call (family problems) and I got angry and hit my steering wheel with a fist in anger. Unfortunately its gonna cost me something now. There`s a crack on the airbag cover close to the horn sign.

The horn works OK, everything looks to work as normal, although I didn`t try the airbag deployment .

The question is, can I buy only this cover at the dealse or do I have to change the whole steering wheel?
Because, if I have to change it whole, then I would think about buying A-Spec Steering Wheel or something else.
Thanks for suggestions and here are some pics:

I believe all you need is the air bag cover. It is not the steering wheel.

I think the cover is part of the airbag if I'm not mistaken.

Try out www.acuraautomotiveparts.org if you are going to order the part new. They have the cheapest prices and will save you some money (compared to going to your brick-and-mortar dealer in your town).

I am a happy driver of a beautiful car, however when you get a call saying your parents are divorcing its gonna make you mad
I am still happy about the car!!!!!

Hopefully its just the cover and it is not attached to the airbag in any way.
I did some mods on the car myself, but how hard would it be to replace the cover if it was connected to the airbag somehow????

go to your dealer, tell them you hit the horn and it ripped. Acura should replace it since its a saftey hazard.

Thanks for all the replies and the links to part shops and to the manual how to remove it. I really DO appreciate it.

However, looks like I am stuck with canadian dealer as none of those online stores ship to Canada. Damn, should have hit something else, on the other hand I am lucky I didn`t hit navi screen (that would be more costly)
Well, will buy that MODULE ASSY., for a driver and replacement looks very easy from the manual posted in above link, so its gonna cost me only around CAD$600-700.
Thank you again guys.

They won`t as I imported it from US and have no warranty. However I ll cover it from the money I saved by buying in US

And I am pretty sure they would find out it wasn`t just an ordinary hit

This issue has been the subject of threads in the past. I'll try to find one of the old ones and will follow up if I am successful. I recall seeing a comment about this back in 2004 shortly after I first joined this site and because of that I've always been really careful how I honk the horn in this car.

can you drive it back into the US into a dealer near the border and have them check it out?

csmeance: I could easily bring it to the dealer. And I just realized I might actually give them a call since I haven`t received my recall letter for p.steering hoses yet ( my VIN# ending is 000004) and could ask them if they could fix that as well.
I am aware I am responsible for that damage, so if they say I need to pay for it I prolly will. Voided US based warranty by exporting and registering vehicle out of country.

....
I didn't find them via browsing either; I had to search to find them. Given the reports that the search function isn't working correctly, I prefaced a Google search with "site:tl.acurazine.com" and then experimented with keywords. Since you're a new user I wouldn't think you'd be able to find threads dating back to 2004 by browsing! It just happened that I remembered that the issue came up in the past, thereby making a search easier.

I have no doubt that striking it with your fist caused it, based on the other threads indicating that this is not a unique problem. When I look at the steering wheel on my 2004 TL, I can tell where the edges of the airbag cover are, so you bet I'm afraid to hit the horn anywhere near those parts of the steering wheel! I always use the two spokes on the bottom of the wheel instead. After four years I'm used to it, although at first I had to make a conscious effort to remember to do this.

Well, I just returned from a Canadian Stealership as I just can`t stand driving around with a cracked airbag cover on my steering and ordered a new one.

It will arrive on Thursday morning and it all cost me measly CAD$763.86, so that is what will Canadians have to pay if they wont get such a thing fixed under warranty.

DAMN, one hit and i thrown out money I could`ve used towards the new RacingBrakes I was planning to buy for almost 5 month.
