Custom side markers teaser thread.

I have been working on this project and I would like to thank JPTL04 for everything. I recently just made myself a set and they are 10 times brighter than stock or any after market ones out there. These are quality LEDs and are not bought on EBAY, rather from OZINUM.COM. The prices are listed here:
http://www.oznium.com/led-modules

I will pick up a bunch of stock side markers so I can use a trade in program, but remember with the trade in program there will be a deposit that will be sent back 100% once I receive your set back. You can also send in your side markers, or if you are in NJ you can stop by and I will do them for you. I can also install them for a small fee.

I will ask that you would send me the LEDs, make sure they are the straight black ones and you can pick any color you want. I will send you my address when you are ready to make the purchase and get things going. I will make the fees at $30 a set or $50 for all four plus shipping. I personally made my back ones a bright red to match the rear tail lights and the front bright white to match my switchbacks and they look great. I will also tint them for you (black them out) for an additional price of $5 per side marker.

Here is the side markers tinted:

Here is the set I did for a buddy:

I haven't personally made them, but I am positive that I can. I would need to look into the amount of work involved and parts needed. I have to remember where I have seen them before.

Pictures are reloaded on page 3 or so. gerzands broken switchback circuit could be used instead of making the bulbs one by one and it will be alot easier. My second set was using those.

I would love for my personal set if they blinked. One for I have the v2 switchbacks and I would get pulled over all the time for switchback side markers. If someone is willing to pay then I can perform, but I have a feeling creating the switchback side markers is going to cost well over $100 being that the bulbs alone are $50 for the pair to make one side marker and then resistors would be needed. I will post some pictures of my set up with red in the back and white up front to match the switchbacks.

you could easily build switch backs for cheap if you guys would just buy your own LEDs and not these overpriced pre made lights, 50$ for a set of switchbacks OMG!!! I could buy the supplies to make 10 sets for 50 dollars. Get some Cree P4 Ambers and some Cree P4 Whites I get mine from Newark.com or digikey.com. If you want to go SMD hop on digikey but these are going to be harder to work with. I'm an LED fanatic though and love soldering its really addicting once you get started.

ACK not trying to hijack here but this is just an example from a project I did on my Legend. You could easily design a switchback circuit, print it out with a laser printer, iron the toner to a blank PCB board then you just fill it in your 20-30 cent leds. I haven't bought a pre made LED in a few years now and its not that time consuming really once you have the design.

Thats a really cool idea. The side markers are only $10 each and if one made them he/she would save money but the time it would take for me to make what I get for $10 would be double that cost. They are VERY bright and I love them. Defiantly a great idea for something like your legends turn signals since you did them yourself, I bet you saved a ton. I may start buying these things and make up one foot led board for footwell lighting or something.

looks interesting. i'd be down for having the fronts blink amber when turning left/right, and the rears blink red when turning. say you're making a left hand turn, have the front and rear left blink with the turn signal. is this doable?

having sidemarker switchbacks would drag wayyyy too much attention from the cops

imagine having switchbacks as blinkers, halos, hid fogs, and bright headlight bulbs all at 6000k and dark tints...just yelling for the cops to follow you lol

but anyways these look hot I already placed my order for the leds they should be delivered to your house in a few days ACK.

I need you to install projectors in my fogs too so i stop blinding people

Ack, with 1 sedt of bulbs you can make 3 sets of switchback sidemarers iirc. You have to break the bulb apart and I think they are 6 sided so 12 boards, 2 per sidemarker.

I just picked up all that is needed for this to happen. I will post up pictures and finished products when I am complete. I should have it done by next week. Pricing will probably end up being $75 for two and $140 for all four plus shipping. They will also be wrapped to be weather proof. I was told to make two was four hours worth of work so we will see. It may end up being more or less but that is just a ballpark figure.

White lights are not supposed to blink at all. Amber lights can blink or be on steady. So in that respect switchback sidemarkers would be ok to use. I myself am using 6k hids in my headlights and fogs and 6k led drls and switchbacks and have tint too and have not had a problem at all with cops and I live in westchester where the cops look for any reason to give a ticket.

Ack, what Infamous said is correct. You would only need one bulb-7443 to make the lights and in the thread I linked their in there. I'm sure Roger is right with using cheaper parts but at the same time it would probably consume more time to make whereas using the bulb and taking it apart at the soldered points since they are on boards already would take less time. Im guessing on this mind you. And one bulb is like 20-30 bucks depending on the bulb size.

Ny. He is a member on here I did his Tail lights and he was telling me he was fed up with getting pulled over for them. All it takes is for you to get pulled over that one time for a cop to say get rid of them and he sees you again around town he will get very upset. I know because I got a "get rid of these warning" and he saw me two weeks later still with tints. Some may say they're fine or not but law is that they are illegal and like mrlal8 says, you have so many illegal things it just takes that one time for a cop to notice one thing and then get you on them all. Let's just say a cop knows LEDs are illegal but doesn't recognize the switchbacks because they blink amber but once he pulls you over you will get harrassed.

IIRC legislation has been passed such that they check for emissions ONLY as of late...but I have to confirm that...

Nonetheless, this is the reason white LEDs will never be on my car. I'd rather spend the $xxx on improving my home than a stupid ticket.

This is correct, but it doesn't mean that your car won't get pulled over and you get a ticket. i think tickets are $56 each now, .

fix it ticket from personal experience....

Had the orion v2 angel eyes on my old TSX. i had the smaller halo BLUE and the bigger, inner halo WHITE. Went a year without cops caring and then one morning got pulled over. got a fix it ticket and had to go to court to pay it off, all together with court fees and all the bullshit, almost 170-180 from what i remember.

bottom line....stupid fix it tickets not worth it in NJ

If you wanted them to blink that is a a different sale and I am working on getting those units made as we speak.

Just finished two set ups and will test them tomorrow for the blinking side markers. Being that a set cost me around $45 and 3 hours (Both fronts), I will make them for $80 a set plus $5 shipping or $170 shipped for all four. I will also include all taps and connectors for the set up.

I will also make a deal for anyone that wants to get the custom LEDs, have them blacked out and blinking all together.

May do a GB and it would be $70 for a set and $130 for all four but I would need four people wanting them. These would make your stock side markers blink.

Ack, really not a fan of white lights anymore; in fact I have none on my car.
But I was wondering if you are able to make the front (amber) and rear (red) sidemarkers blink IN SYNC with the front and rear turn signals.

This would require a delay of the shut off.
