I have some questions in regards to your GREAT headlights.

I have a 2005 TL.

Questions :

1. How do you wire the CCFL's as day-time running lights since the 05 has no day-time running lights ?

2. How long do they last (the ones bought from umnitza). It would suck to have one of them burn out in a year or so... Then what ? You've been doing this for a while. Any bad reports ?

3. If you have your headlights cleared, what do you use for a turn-signal bulb ? Because we need it yellow... What kind of bulb should we buy ? Do you have a part number ?

4. How hard is it to replace those headlights ? Drop the bumper, change the lights... I have the service manual, not too clumsy. Would you suggest an Acura Dealer ?

5.Where do we send the payment ? Is it a PayPal one ?

1: Best advice is to have them wired independently i.e. have them wired using a separate switch. This so they can be turned on whenever needed. Tapping into any existing power supply or having them on all the item is not a good idea as the ballasts used for the CCFLs are not that dependable.

2: If wired using a separate switch then the halos are pretty dependable. Sadly these things are a hit or a miss, I have had customers who have been running theirs for years without an issue and have had instances where they go bad after a few months, usually its the CCFL ballast which can be easily replaced. Since these are made out of fragile glass if you severe incounter with a pot hole me crack them deeming them useless.

3: They either go with switchbacks or regular chrome coated amber bulbs, the chrome coated amber bulbs can be bought from ebay. I have been running mine for almost 2 years now without any issue.

4: Instructions/videos are available here on AZ on how to remove bumper and lights. If you are good around a few basic tools then you can take the lights off in no time, without an issue.

5: Paypal or a money order if you are sending your lights in for the work.

Also, turn around time for lights sent in for work is 1~2 days. Total down time would be transit time plus my labor time, so it depends on means of shipping used by the owner as to how long he/she is willing to be without their car..

If so, how much would it cost to have a clear diffuser on 04 base model alone?

 

Its for an 06 but is pretty much the same thing.

If you just want the diffusers installed i.e. no paint option then labor to take the old amber diffusers out and install new clear ones is $125.

Hey JnC great work there! i want to ask if you can repair headlight, i got a set that is cracked from the inside it seem. Can you do something with those or can you replace that pieces? If you can do something, ill mod it while its there too hehe.

 

I am waiting the delivery for my tl this week i am considering to have this done on it. Going from Saab (once a week at the dealer) to an tl 04 yes man. I will never go back to a Saab again

Thanks for the info. I want to buy two used headlights (E-Bay) and switch them with mine, then send my originals in for clearing, color matching and LED rings install. That way I don't have to hold back the exchange program

Can you at the same time polish the outer plastic of the lights ? I have no cracks or big chips, but some serious polishing could help. I did my best with Mothers plastic polisher ...

Looking at your thread for 2 weeks now my BIG question is the wiring. If you do the parking ligths wiring they will be on all the time and burning out is just a question of time

I have an idea. Some people did the Accord fog lights switch - it comes with 2 wire harnesses and a fog lights switch we can put next to the mirror adj/VSA switch.
If we can somehow get just the wires form that system (with switch/fuse all that) - can we hook the LED's to work as "fog lights" ? That way you put the parking lights on, flip the switch and light them up whenever you want.

Wiring that is a PIB. Can it be done ? Do you have any experience in that ?

Anybody wants to weigh in ?
