What fabrication did you guys use to make the HID's fit in the socket? Everything else seems self explanatory for me to tackle.

To me, the OEM shows the bumper as brighter than the LED. I can see the OEM side better.

So, are any of these LEDs for reverse lights 'actually' brighter? I personally don't care how they look. My husband needs to reverse back through a 100' pitch black driveway that has a big boulder at the end. When I drive it, it's nearly impossible to see out the back.

I'd rather not go with HIDs as I can't find a definitive thread showing how to do it so I was interested in an LED swap but don't want to throw away the money if they don't actually throw more light down the road.

Not sure which way to go here.

DO NOT SWITCH TO LED... Stock lights will give you more light output... LEDs are just for looks...

To change the reverse lights you pop the trunk and u will see about a dozen clips, pop the little middle part out and then the whole clip comes out. Then there is one phillips head screw. The you pry apart the black thing around the hinges and take them off. Then just pry to the lining out and you can get to the bulbs easy, twish counter clock wise and pull them out.

Standard bulbs emit light in all directions, and hence illuminate better. LED's emit light in a concentrated direction (like a laser) and will appear brighter, but will not illuminate as well because they are too focused.

For this reason, I went with a piaa bulb in my trunk for functionality. A LED in there would have been asinine.

For a brighter bulb, you want a PIAA bulb in the 921, 168, or 194 form factor. All 3 use the same socket plug, but have different form factors (921 is for a larger bulb e.g. reverse lights or interior lights, 194/168 is for a smaller bulb e.g. license lights)

Like these for example:

http://www.shopatron.com/products/pr...PIA19172/353.0

http://www.shopatron.com/products/pr...PIA19283/353.0

Not sure what the difference is between the 2, but I suspect the plasma is for a bluish look...although it could be brighter...
