Unhappy Crackedup ASPEC wing!

Here I am with another problem this winter............but I expect this not be covered under my extended warranty.

I post this because I want you guys opinion's on what should I do, or what can I do about it.

Its clear that noting has hit my wing, its simply cracked and spliting in 2 pieces of fiberglass. I noticed that when I washed my car yesterday, dont know if its recent cause of the MAJOR snow we had here last couple of weeks.(over 55 cm)

1-Should I get a new trunk and simply by a lip
2-Should I get a new wing
3-Should I contact Honda/Acura Main office to claim that this is not normal!!!!
4-Should I make it fix (fiberglass+paint)

Here it is!!

Did some of you guys already faced that situation??? Please let me know what you think!!

Thanks

VmtSquad

I would go to the dealer and tell them that it's got to be a manufacturer defect. Since it's fiberglass and probably was factory painted already there probably was no way to tell if it was cracked already. I'm mean what's the worst they can tell you that they won't change it.

^ i agree the dealer is worth a try.
I have a question though
why would you consider buying a whole new trunk if only the wing is damaged?

i dunno man, im not sure of the potentials of fiberglass, but i was in montreal a few days ago and it was about 7 degrees which is pretty cold, i would say that it was a manufacturers defect in the making of this particular wing and the cold got the best of it causing it to crack. i would take it back and indicate to them that u havn't done anything and im sure if you are very respectful to the people who are trying to help you, you will get what u want.

normally fiberglass shouldn't just crack like that.

Is this really made out of fiberglass? If its oem, I figure its made out of polyurethane or something more durable. If this had happen to my wing, I would get rid of it and fill the holes. Try the dealer before paying it out your pocket.

Add on accessories are only warrentied for a year. If it is over a year old I don't think the dealer well be inclined to help you out.

^^ If it was put on at the time of the sale of the car, it has the full warranty of the car. Not sure of the OP's case.

True! I already ask the dealer about accesories like my wink and the extended warranty.

The wink was put on the car when sale was made at the dealer(2004). I have a appointment on Thursday for my power steering pump(warranty) so i'll just show them and ask what they can do about it. It worth the try like few of you said....

If can not have a descent answer with the dealer I guess I will try to fill a claim with acura sine fiber shoudnt just crack like that.......EVEN IF ITS COLD! Theres so many TL in my AREA with that same wing......that must be a FACTORY problem for sure.

Thanks for your support, i'll try to keep you guys updated on that one.....wish me luck

If it's over a year, nothing the dealer will do on that. So try checking junkyards for a cheap replacement if you really want to go that route.

It looks like water went into the crack, the cold weather made the water expand, and poof .. you have a gigantic crack.

Did you say yet how long you had that wing on? Who put it on? Dealer? Over a year, don't waste your time no matter what caused it.

my step dad has a 2004 tsx and his wing had a missing bolt so the wing was a little loose, so they ordered him a whole new wing. and this was two days ago. so it may be possible to get it replaced for free.

I always hated the wing but it came with the car and I dont have any experience on how to fill the holes........So I wanted to check how much would be for a new or used trunk. I wont have any trouble to install it myself.

must be because you're in canada

if its an acura part, that was installed by the dealer, it takes on warranty till your warranty period is over for bumper to bumper, ESPECIALLY if its installed by the dealer

like I said - it maybe because its NBP...you, DARKSOM and other NBP owners have it rough

Lucky you! The dealers here can be real PITA. My dad works at almost 30 dealer but I find out that it is not enough, all the acura dealers are ass holes over here. Thats why im always going at the HONDA dealer . They treat me like family and I like it. (low cost)

I'll find a way to get rid of that ugly wing ......
