Control Arm Bushing Replacement

Had an inspection done on the car and they stated the control arm bushing needed to be replaced. So im asking the forum whether its worth DIY or just have the shop do it. Is OEM good or are there better after market for the same if not cheaper price. Please and thanks.

Its a common issue with the bushings tearing a bit. Theres a pretty big thread in the problems & fixes sub forum about this. Personally I purchased OEM bushings, removed both lower control arms, and took them to get pressed out. Some people press them out themselves but I didn't want to deal with it. Don't forget to get an alignment after you're done with the job.

I've just left the half-cracked bushings in place for the 18 months I've owned the car - I'm sure it's slightly affected my handling, but otherwise it's not a big deal. Other people have chosen this route as well. If you go over to the "Problems & Fixes" section, and sort the threads by most views, you'll see this is #1:

I'm not telling you or recommending anything, especially as it relates to a 50% broken part. I was just telling you what I've done, and lots of other folks. This is probably the most common TL "broken" part. Options from Excellerate, and of course OEM, are all out there, and may or may not be worth your time/dollars to install. Read the thread I posted and decide for yourself.

Good luck!
