Any major differences from '05-'08 TL's?
Hey guys...just joined the forum as I am looking to buy an 05-08 TL once I sell my car here shortly.
From my research, there isn't much that changed from 05-08, but I wanted to make sure that I am correct in assuming that and forums are the best places to get answers.
I'm looking for something with under 50k so I'm gravitating towards 07's and 08's.
Anything I should be looking out for? Is the navigation worth it? Is there a sub-forum for this post (a quick search returned little)?
Thanks for the help and look forward to being part of the TL fam. Great looking car, hopefully gonnna keep it a long time.

yes 04 TL are the firmest riding ones (outside of the Type S) mid 05 got slightly better trans TLS has RL derived trans. 6MT has brembo brakes Subtle changs to the front and rear end (07-08 LED lights in tail)
I would get an 07 or 08 just because they don't suffer from the crap at that the previous cars had.
slight changes in the MIDS display during refresh
Others feel free to correct or add.
and yes navi is worth it.

what a lot of people dont realize is that for 07-08 even the base tl has the same RL-derived transmission. if you look up the parts number, the 07-08 base tl has the exact same transmission as the TL-S

All TL's have LED tails...
If you have a smart phone just use the navi on that honestly, if you end up getting navi, do the hack.
As he mentioned above, the newer model TL's have little improvements here and there but probably worth it. When I was looking for mine I decided an 06 would be perfect for me, I stayed away from the 04's and 05's. 07-08 was out of my price range.

Ok. Looking to spend 15-20k. Upper end seems to get me into 2007 and 2008's. This is my first purchase, and my dad wants me to get an 07 or 08 so I'm not calling him all the time with problems haha. Seems like it's definitely worth it to avoid trips to the shop.
Navi is 50/50 in my mind right now. I'm a tech junkie so my phone is my navigation. It's super easy...someone just texts me an address, boom, I have GPS to get there. And same with audio, I'm going to be using a iPod for that, just need an aux or 30pin.
Outside of the year, miles, and S-type, the only things I need to be looking for are Navi and standard/auto transmission (would prefer auto). Everything else is standard including bluetooth.
I've looked at some 08 CPO's from Acura. Is it worth the price bump to get the coverage? Seems like appx 2k extra for 18-24 months of coverage is kinda steep IMO. I'm looking at driving 8k max per year (metro/live close to work and flying to almost every city I visit)

CPO...personal choice. peace of mind. really up to you. used TLs are solid cars for the most part assuming they've been taken care of. i like the peace of mind...so i'd probably lean towards CPO (which i did with my MDX).
you shouldn't have too much of a hard time finding "the one" with what you are looking for, unless you have a specific color combo in mind. the navi makes the dash look much more complete compared to one without, IMO. it's up to you though since it's gonna be your car. good luck.

don't be afraid to push them on the CPO warranty price. TLS = Navi standard so if you get one of those you are good. Personally I would get the TLS as they are reasonably quick and come loaded with some neat extras. One thing to do for sure is to straight pipe those precats....that alone should put the new TLS over 300hp
Not even looking at TLS. I think the price bump is fair, but its not gonna do much for me. Not impressing anyone with a TLS where I'm at. The TL is really what I need. Lower insurance, better mpg, and will still hold it's value really well. I'm trying to be reasonable and save some money with the TL .

Ya. I'm going to call a dealer down here and see if they are flexible. Dealer by me has an black 08 TL, 49k miles..offered for 20k. 2k+ over similar craigslist by owner offerings. For that I'm getting 12 months of limited warranty and the 7 year power train warranty that started in 08 (or would an 08 start ticking in 2007?).

OP believe it or not but Type S only consume 1 MPG more than base TL, but like you say base TL is good enough for you then just buy the thing CPO. BTW the power train warranty started whenever the car was first register in DMV.

1. 2007 Acura TL bought and register on Nov 2006, the warranty will start at Nov 2006 going for 72 months/70000 miles whichever come first.
2. 2007 Acura TL bought in April 2008 then the warranty will start at April 2008 going for 72 months/ 70,000 miles whichever come first.
this is the reason why you might see some TL has about a year of warranty left and some TL with warranty already expire even the year of the vehicle are the same.

i looked at 4 tl's before i bought an 07 base.
at first i didn't really care for the minor updates that the 07/08 models had until i bought the 07. they just make the car look more modern compared to the 04-06.
mine had a navi that i swore i would need, but i've only used it about once (had the car for a few months). although if u get the navi u also get the backup cam which is a great help sometimes.

I think I'm going to go 07-08 base, no navi, preferably black or charcoal.
Do 07 and 08 come standard with an aux input? Seems like yes. What about an ipod cable in the glovebox. Some people are saying it's standard, others are not.

Price permitting, I don't really recommend getting an '04-06 TL used. Don't get me wrong, they are obviously all equally great, but take into account the small additional features you get with the '07-08, it's the better buy. The '04-06 models don't have fog lights, AUX input, and the modern-style Acura steering wheel. You can basically add all of the '07-08 features to an '04-06 model, but it's just not worth in in the end if you have an opportunity to pick up an '07-08 model. Plus, the navi is improved for '07-08 and if you don't get a navi model, the headunit looks A LOT cleaner than the '04-06s did. Plus you get a backup camera on the '07-08s.
I guess it's up to the price, too. I'd rather have a 2006 with 65k miles than an 08 with 95k miles...
