paint can be anywhere from $500 to $5000. Just depends on what direction you go. What is your budget?

i don't want to spend more than 3k in all reality. I'm going into the closest shop to my house to get a quote and maybe some samples today or tomorrow.

For $3K, you'll get OK quality. They most likely will not take off the front or rear bumpers or take off the components on the bumpers. Probably have overspray on some components or decent amount of orange peel. You might feel tape lines.

If you do some prep work you can get the cost down. For a full, good quality job with lifetime warranty you'll be looking at $6-7K depending on how deep you want to go.

If you pull of all the lights, trim, door panels, bumpers, etc and give them to the shop it's going to cut down on labor to disassemble everything.

If you don't want the engine bay painted you'll save money but it'll look bad being mis-matched. Pull engine and all wires/hoses and paint fully is going to be near $8-9K.

Also depends on what color you pick. Some colors are much more expensive ($1000/gal) vs $50/gallon for cheap stuff.

my friend paid $6k for a paint job on a 90 Fox Body Mustang that including removal the engine repaint the engine bay, door jam, all the doors etc.... The paint job has been held up nicely for 10 years now.

Why a repaint? For your price goal maybe a wrap if body is in good shape?

Its going to be a challenge to meet a 3k budget depending on your quality goals for a full repaint especially if its a drastic color change and you have a bunch of prep to do. I dont live anywhere near your market but pricing in my area for a full quality repaint is substantially more. Good luck in your search and keep us up to date.

I got a quote from a trusted auto body shop (Steve Carroll in Tampa)that I’ve been going to- 3k- for the 04 I recently bought and he is taking everything off - I doubt he’ll be taking the engine out but I don’t need him to. I’m not changing the original color. Maybe because I’ve been to him before is why he quoted me 3k? Told him once I source some ASPEC underbody spoilers, I’ll give him a call to get it all done at once - just in case they need to be repainted.

talked to the closest shop to my house which quoted me 140USD to paint my side mirrors and door handles (ill take them off and apart for painting, which i don't really want them doing in the first place). the rest of the car passes but some fading on the roof rear/front bumper gets to me.

that's sun damage...ie; the UV rays ate through the clear coat.
one can get away with just respraying the clear...ie; dont have to fully repaint.

if you store the car outside, especially in the hot texas sun, and DONT keep a protective coat of wax/sealant/ceramic coat/carbon coat at all times, its just going to happen again
