Confirmed bluetooth phones?!

From the list on the Acura website, could current bluetooth TL owners pleae confirm which phones are working OK. I know that a prior thread indicated that the Ericsson 616 has an echo. I have seen the Nokia 3650 work at the dealership.

Are others having problems with the 616?? How about the Siemens S56?

Please help. Need to buy a phone today.

Thanks, Sparky. I would prefer to get the 616 since Sony invented bluetooth (so I have been told).

Sony didn't invent Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a consortium of companies that subscribe to a communication standard, Ericsson, not Sony was the biggest front running company in the consortium.

Bigdomer,

I've posted a few threads on this and so far I have heard back from folks that have used the Sony Ericsson T68i, T616 and the Siemens S56. Most report no major problems. I've heard that sometimes an echo occurs, but it can sometimes be remedied by replace the call.

Thanks for the clarification, Rick.

Thanks Mike for your comments on the S56.

Thanks for your summary, mook.

I guess I will flip a coin between S56 and SE616. They are the same (after rebates) right now. I do not need/want a camera, so maybe I will go S56. If there is a strong preference between S56/SE616 for any of you, please let me know.

I have a T616 and it's working great.

AT&T GSM service is crap, but the phone is great...

Check the menu system on the phones, the Ericsson is pretty simple, I have had Siemens in the past that are indecipherable

Bigdomer,

I've heard that Sony Ericsson has a replacement phone for the T610/T616 series called the T630. I don't know who will carry it here in the states yet but it seems to solve some of the shortcomings of the previous models. Looks better too, no slick exterior that shows fingerprints. Check the SE website for more info on that phone. Hopefully you have time to deside. I'm lucky, I haven't fully convinced myself I want a TL yet and I still have 5 months on my Verizon contract, so I am keeping my fingers crossed by the time I need the new phone the newer models are out (namely the new SE flip phone with Bluetooth and the Motorola V600). I prefer flip/clamshell style phones.

Good luck.

I went ahead and got the 616, the local store was out of the S56 anyway. It works well so far. Love the handsfreelink. Unfortunately, my voice is very deep and I am struggling with entering numbers.

Bigdomer,

My I suggest tighter underwear?

Keep us posted on any problems you may have with the T616, because at this time it looks like that is the phone I'd go with if I had to pick one today.

I have the SE T616 and it works great. I agree that At&T coverage is not as good as their TDMA locally. But until At&T offers bluetooth phones that work on their TDMA/Analog service, I'm stuck with this.
