Comptech short shifter, any good? Worth the trouble of installing?

Ok I know it will feel better. I've heard 30% less travel. I'm wondering it's worth the trouble of dismantling the console and installing it (only costs $70). Does it feel a lot better because the downside is I could always break something dismantling it and if the improvement is only minimal I think I'll pass.

I have an auto, but most of my other cars I had were manual and that was ALWAYS one of my first and favorite mods...

I did it after a year and its been a year with it. It's not a CRAZY Mod but the feeling is good and its not that hard to install.

It is well worth it. Mine has been on for over three years. If you decide to do it, be sure to add a weighted shift knob as well. Really helps in the feel of the shift.

The install is not that bad and you will feel the difference. A inexpensive must do in my book.

After seeing the auto guys chopping off a bit of their shifter, I went ahead and tried it on my 6mt. I took about 1/2 and inch off and then screwed the knob down as far as I could. I know its a bit ghetto, but it give a noticeably better feel to the gear box and will 'shorten' the throws as well - although you could just grasp lower on a stock height shifter. Just a thought.

Why not combine it with say, a PXAMG or related install?
