Coat Hook?

I needed to use the coat hook in my 2007 Acura TL for the first time today and this is what I found.

WTF am I looking at? Either my coat hook is broken or this is the sorriest excuse for a coat hook that I've ever seen. What the heck is Acura thinking? Anyone else have this "coat hook" or am I alone?

WOW ...never even looked at mine...I know it's there...but not sure if it looks like yours or not. I will check at lunch time.
That IS a sorry excuse for a hanger...more like a nose-picker!

Your hook was installed upside down according to your picture. I just went outside and looked at mine and the "hook" is facing up not down like yours.

^^ Mine is the same way.

If you notice, these handholds pull down and sort of click into a lower position when you apply pressure to them. It looks like the part that gets exposed when in the down position is thinner than the handhold itself. Try pulling the handle downward, and while the thin portion is exposed, slide the hook to the thinner section, and you may be able to twist it around to face the hook upward.
Hope all that makes sense!

sorry, that is just too funny.

take it to the dealer. Its easy to fix that one yourself but the dealer needs to see that.

Steve, you are right. Twisting it won't work, it's backwards as well.

yep - even when it's on the right way it is still a PIA. Too small.....doesn't hold more than 1-2 hangers.

But it's still a coat (singular) hook........one coat one hook.....LOL

Slick- I think the assembler put the entire grab handle on upside down- unscrew, flip it around and everything will be normal.

Nice wood hangers can be hung directly off the grab handle.
A few shirts on hangers from the dry cleaner will hang on the stock coathook, but I have to use the trunk if there are more than 8 items. Not a big deal.

I thought mine was the only one like that! Maybe that is the way it's suppose to be. Just one way for Acura to be different. Anyway, it still works for me.

He must have been asleep when he put it back on - I'm sure it would have been removed to replace the sunroof motor.......

This is not the first Acura I've seen like that. My father has an older RL that is the same way.

My TL's hook is correct, but I found it small and hard to use. I picked up a triangular thingamajig at the Container Store for around $2. The triangle goes over the "oh shit handle" next to the existing coat hook and then you just use the triangle as the hook instead. Works great and is far easier to use.
