Cloth bra

The front of my o4 tl is getting beat up. Does anyone have a regular bra.....not a clear bra. My concern with the cloth bra is the paint is so weak I'm afraid it will rub off. Not sure if anyone in Kansas City Mo. is doing clear bras. Still researching. Thanks for any advice.

Flippie,

I had just the hood protector portion of the "cloth or vinyl" bra on a previous car and it left some marks in the paint and I noticed a distinct difference in the paint underneath the bra and exposed. Also - be careful taking it off, dirt and sand build up underneath. I wouldn't recommend it. just my

Regular bra is fine as long as you are willing to put up with the maintenance. (frequent cleaning underneath, taking it off during/after rain.....etc.) If you can pony up the money, go with a clear bra.

Bra? Full-Nose Mask? (MSRP $159)...

Find a good dealer for clear-bra...

Experience on my '00 Accord

I just started using a bra on my Accord. It's a black car, and after a couple times driving with it on on a long road trip it left a mark across the front of the hood, at the edge of the top of the bar. It span all the way across. Fortunately some Scratch X removed it completely, as they're light swirls. I imagine that the border of the bra is somewhat abrasive. And yes in rainy weather the sand does build up around it.

I recommend trying to apply generous amount of wax on the hood before you put it on, and not buff it off. I did that, and noticed the wax getting buffed out with time. This way the coat of wax gets buffed, not your clearcoat.

I only use it on long road trips. I have to see...maybe I will discontinue use if it scratches too much. I take it off right after I use it. I don't recommend extended use of this thing.

This from experience: cloth bras suck. My previous car had a cloth bra. They do save the paint but they are a huge hassle. It was a Honda accessory, so it was a good fit, but it took a few minutes to put it on/take in off. And I had to remove the two top screws from the front license plate every time because they passed through two holes in the bra..

When I first got it I would pull over and remove it if it started to rain. After a while that stopped. I had to remove it every week or so to wash the car. Eventually I stopped putting it back on immediately after washing. I would go a few days, then weeks without it. I can tell you that it does not protect the paint while it's on the floor in the garage. I do probably 85% highway driving at 60+mph. The front of my car looked like crap after a while. It's because of my own laziness, but it was very annoying. It doesn't sound like a big deal to put on/take off, but doing it constantly becomes a chore.

In addition, you must be careful to keep the underside of it clean so it does not scratch the paint. Overall, a pain it the butt. I put a clear bra on my TL less than a week after I got it and I love it. No hassles and I know the paint is protected. Over the life of the car I'm sure it will pay for itself in the amount of time saved not having to deal with it.

If money is an issue you could get a kit and do it yourself. It honestly does not look too hard.
