Climate Keyless Memory Settings

I took delivery of a silver/ebony navi TL yesterday. So far I am delighted with the car. I don't seem to have any of the problems some other owners have complained about.

The manuals are pretty good and a lot of the stuff is intuitive. However, I cannot seem to find anything in the manual that explains what climate control settings can be memorized and how to do it. I am assuming that it might simply memorize my climate settings at the time I lock the door. Alternatively, I am thinking it might be linked to the memory seat settings.

I would appreciate help on this topic. I suspect someone is going to refer me to a page in the manual I missed and then I am going to feel pretty silly.

smoore, not manual but a leaflet. You need to assoiate a remote to a driver by pressing unlock and lock at the same time and holding for two sec to hear the confirmation beep and it will remember all your settings in that remote. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I guess I didn't get the leaflet. I have already linked the two keys so I guess it should work. I will check it out after my wife drives the car.

The manual discusses the memory of both the mirror and seat positions using the memory buttons on the door. I just couldn't find anything about the climate settings.

Yes you can, not the radio settings though.

Funny how you can learn more about your car everyday

It took me about an hour to figure it out, which probably means I am not too bright when it comes to this stuff. Anyway, the info is in the leaflet titled “Driver’s Setup Guide”, with the blue cover.

It is a little misleading, which is what screwed me up. You cannot set it to a certain setting, make it remember that setting, and then if you change the setting, stop the car, lock the door, and the same driver later unlocks the door, it will return to the initial setting.

What it does, and only this, is if driver 1 leaves the car with the fan on high and the temp at 70, when driver 1 comes back, it will be in that position. Now, if driver 2 drives the car, and leaves the car with the temp at 75 and the fan off, when driver 2 comes back, it will be at 75 with the fan off. Then, when driver 1 unlocks the door and starts the car, the climate control will be with the fan on high and the temp at 70, because that is the last setting done by driver 1.

So what it boils down to is that you cannot “set” the climate control settings with the keyfob, but it remembers the last setting for each driver. I was hoping you could preset it so that no matter what setting you left it at it would return to the preset setting, but it looks like this is not the case. I hope that someone can prove me wrong on this because I would really like to have that option, but I don’t think it can be done.

Thanks for the info. That is how I assumed it would work but I didn't get the Driver's Setup Guide with the car. I wonder if that is something you get in the States but they don't hand out in Canada.

I got it. Very handy to keep in the car rather than the entire set of manuals. I'm sure if you call your dealer they will get you a copy.

I wish they could make a memory rear-view mirror - my wife is 1 foot shorter than I am

The climate settings make sense though. If it memorized the climate settings you would have to re-memorize them several times throughout the year. I do appreciate the convenience: I typically leave it on AUTO at 68F, while my wife leaves is on 74F with a manual fan setting. It even remembers when the dual zones are being used.

With the seats and mirrors you should only have to set them once (assuming you don't grow or shrink).
