Does anybody know how to remove the cigarette lighter that is located in the center console. I had a plug break off inside the outlet and cannot get it out.

It is really wedged in there and nothing to grab. I need to remove the outlet to get a better position/grip to try to remove the object, or replace it. Since it is not a warranty item, i don't want to pay a dealer to do it. Any ideas?

There is no cigarette lighter in the TL, but there are two power outlets. One is in front of the gearshift lever, in the bottom compartment, and the other is under the armrest. Either one requires extensive surgery.

I replied in another thread what was involved and suggested the writer take it to a Best Buy or Circuit City or stereo installation shop and let them do it.

You have to remove the aluminum trim, which you will probably bend or scratch and then it will cost more than going somewhere to get it done, and then lots of clips and screws, and probably the gearshift lever, and then the rear center console compartment, etc, so it is not a job for a beginner, unless you have lots of experience in this.
