China's TL (Acura Style Mag) $20K more

I got my Acura Style Magazine yesterday. The first Acura Dealer open in China, 27 Sept 2006, the first of 10 dealers in the next 12 months.

TL price 430,000 RMB=$54,400 USD
RL price 680,000 RMB=$86,000 USD

RMB (renminbi)

They hope to sell 3,000 vehicles a year in China. And Canada thought they jacked up the price.

Umm yeah, it's due to import taxes. You should see how much Audi or BMW costs there.

There were several typos in the TL/TL-S article... One line was like "standard TL with 258 hp..." And then the next line was "the beefier TL-S with 258 hp..." hahah..

Euro cars aren't that much cheaper in europe. The US doesn't have crazy import taxes for cars like other countries do which is what drives up the cost of cars for them.

I remember when I ran into a good friend of mine that was an Air Force Reserve pilot... he went over to Germany for a while in 2003 and I remember him mentioning that he went to lease an Accord and besides complaining about the fuel prices (they pay by the liter what we pay for a gallon) and it was equivalent to almost $40k for an LX.

......crazy.

Also did you notice the pic of the shifter. The passenger side seat heater button is half gone.

The picture under that shows the 3.5 liter engine and the caption says, "The 3.5 liter V6 engine delivers 258 hp via a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters."

The same dude who just bought the car is thinking, I can't believe those Yankees are buying made in China products for 100 times more than it cost to make.

I noticed this also. Was kinda of embarrassed that the Acura Magazine would make these blatant errors about an Acura car.

i was stationed in germany for a while. they pay allot more for their bmws than we do. i was in a bmw showroom and was looking at a german spec 2006 330d which had a sticker price of 50, 000 euros(about 60,000 us) and the us spec 330xi with comparable options was 40,000 us. us spec over there was only availible to us military.

That's because of the Import Tax in China, it's 100% of the original price, so 30K car in china cost about 60k~ that's the way it is. BMW usually cost well over 80K for a 335i, but now they open a factory in china, the price drop to 50K for a 335i

yeah given that their average college grad makes about 3000 RMB

its definitely going to be super luxury, only affordable to those related to the government or big corps..

But, Audi and BMW they have factory in China tho...
So it is not very expensive when buying a BMW in China, but I heard it is kinda worse because everything is made in China

the import tax is how they keep foreign imports out while they can continue to export at rock bottom prices.
