Chevron Vs. Shell
Often use Shell 93 (no 91 around here) or Exxon/Mobil since I have their cards and they're very common in this area. However, I also will fill up at cheaper stations when I can. The car runs fine on everyone's 93 so far.
As this will be a geographically specific comment, it will obviously not universally apply....
Here in Baton Rouge, I've noticed that Shell employees tend to be much more pleasant to deal with than those of the Chevron that is about 300 ft from my house, so I never see a problem driving an extra mile to go to Shell.
I enjoy my Red Bulls, so I usually go inside, even though I do the quick pay at the pump, so for me customer service is a pretty large determinant of where I go....

It's all the same gas. They put slightly different additives in at the station level. I buy the least expensive 91 octane that I can find. Just watch out for to much ethyonal (sp?).

You are usually better off sticking with a national brand, the detergents will keep you from having issues. The stations are usually in better condition as well. However, if the station is very old I will tend avoid those even if it is a national brandl. If they don't have the money to maintain the equipment then maybe they are not maintaining the filters, etc.
Anyway... this is either second hand information or opinion so take it for what it is worth.
Sunoco Ultra 94 always....well unless its way too expensive liek over .90/litre then a lower grade but Sunoco.... I used Shell V-power 93 last week and my car felt DEAD... so i decided never again
haha yeah, i have a chevron and shell RIGHT next to each other, normally same gas price since they are competeing with one another. i got my 06 TL back in may and ive been using shell 91 sinec then, but recently switched to chevron since i read some good information about them. Right now i am just testing both out to see which is better. ive also read that using both actually good? chevron on 1 tank and when near empty, use shell, supposely one gas station cleans the other for performance? i can be wrong, can some one correct me if i am wrong? thank you

Then there are also blends (Ethanol) that are usually mandated during the summer, but depending on the cost can find their way into the cheaper fuels at other times. These blends do not hold the same energy content as the non blended fuel.

I stick with Chevron (about 95% of the time) but I have no problem with Shell.
I try to avoid Esso as I find it in my wholly unscientific "butt dyno" sort of way seem to provide less gas mileage than Chevron.
But I do use it sometimes if I was forced upon a choice between Esso and Petro-Canada/Mohawks/Huskies/what nots.
I went to Petro-Canada twice in the last six years, only because I was about to run out and there wasn't any alternative.
Not that I have anything against Petro-Canada.

Chevron 87
Spent time with each car to see the gas mileage difference between 87 / 91 / 93. is not worth moving to 91 or 93 until the price gets close to $4/gallon.
Even with 87 I still get close to 30/MPG on freeway trips.

Ok, so I have a 2005 Accord V6 , Not Quite the TL.....but I am having the same issue and concern with Fuel. THe Honda book says use 86 or higher...must be marketing, because I knock on acceleration for anything under 91 Octane.
I find Chevron 93 to result in fantastic acceleration and it for some reason causes less down shifting. Idles at 650, making the idle a little less quiet then I like.
I find Shell V Power to Be very smooth and Idles at 700 rpm every time. But quick acceleratiions call my car for 2 down shifts...and it feels like dead acceleration.
I like it though.
So Im finishing the second tank of Shell and will try Chevron one more time to make sure it was not my imagination....DOnt know why the Chevron would seem to have better acceleration.
Bottom lline..Chevron 89 runs over all best in my car, but knocks on acceleration.
Chevron 93, No knocks, but rougher idling.
Shell 93, No Knocks, good idling, weaker acceleration.
Am I just plain nuts?
No forum this good at Honda, they just talk about cup holders..lol

I dont undstand peoples hype on chevron, when shell v-power is marketed to clean your whole fuel system. I always use shell v-power doesnt matter the price. Also, there isnt a chevron near my house. Even if there was i wouldnt go there.
Chevron has a better car wash near my house, but been using Shell more lately... been using Shell since as young as I can remember... my grandfather used Shell, and I always had a Shell card from when I started driving, but use Chevron too. Sometimes Mobil. BP f*&^%$ed up a classic car I had, and Amoco never even replied to an email when I complained.
what are your guys thoughs on 76 though? sorry if thats offtopic mods. can we throw that in the poll too? and damn i wish we got 93 here. 91 vpower for me. my dad works for shell so its kind of a bias. i've never tried chevron.

^^ you are lucky.. i just filled up 2 days ago and it was 2.96'ish for 91 @ 76.. Gas prices are beginning to increase here in the bay area(South Side SAN JOSE). I fill up with any name brand such as 76//chevron//shell, whichever one is cheapest. But if i see cheap chevron, I will fill that up since it has "Techron"..
