Check Engine Light
Check Engine Light
stupid light is on. i installed the intake over 3 weeks ago and now the check engine light is on. i wonder if it has anything to do with it? would it take that long to show up though?
i havent dont anything else.
im not experiencing any driveability issues at all. car sounds and runs fine.
gas cap is on tight. dont wana take it to the dealer and hand it to a careless service jerk to fix, but i guess i have no choice.
think its the intake? could the engine be running lean cause of the extra air? why would it take so long to show.... ARGH!

ive had this same problem... i actually had it on for about a week, and then the damn light went on the day after i got a car wash... i might be stupid for thinking this, but im thinkin maybe water or something got up into the intake, and since i didnt put the AEM bypass valve on there (because it is a one peice CAI), that may have triggered the light. But the other thing is... my onboard comp keeps flashing "check fuel cap," as if the fuel cap wasnt screwed on enough...so my guess is the air pressure in the fuel tank is thrown off because of something or other... but... if anyone has any input, or any other problems alike... then let me know, but for now, im just going to bring it into the dealership... and im gunna wing it, and not put my OEM intake back on, bc it was a bitch to switch out, and from what i hear, an aftermarket CAI doesnt void anything... right?
Sounds more like an O2 sensor issue. You've both changed your exhaust? The fuel cap can trigger what appears to be an O@ sensor issue. As you've changed the exhaust I would think your problem is with an O2 sensor.
its the intake, not the exhaust. i wonder how many people with intakes have this problem. it has been really rainy around here lately. i hope thats all that it is.
i even killed the connection to the battery to reset the ecu. take the battery terminals off and make them touch together so that it completes a circuit (off of the battery of course) and then let it sit there for awhile. then about 10 min later, attach it back on the battery and then run the car for about 15 min. this will allow the ecu to re-learn everything. make sure in those 15 min, you do not touch the car, don't move it or rev it, but make sure the engine is running.
i already tried it and the light came back on bout a min later. hopefully it will work for some
