Center Console Alignment

I have purchased an '06 TL here a few weeks back. Car has low mileage(47K) when I purchased the vehicle. Never been in an accident. I guess I didn't notice this when I went through the purchase process but the center console is closer to the passenger seat then the drivers seat. The leather armrest is almost touching the passenger seat. Console doesn't seem loose or any cracks.
I haven't taken it apart yet but wanted to get some suggestions on what is the problem.

Are you sure it's the console and not the passenger seat back?

From the cup holders going back it is way closer to the passenger seat then the driver seat.

The vertical part of the seat....

You said the arm rest is almost touching the seat. The only part of the seat that the arm rest can touch is the side bolster of the seat back.

If it's from the cupholders back, then it's likely it was taken apart at one point and not re-installed correctly. I'm not exactly sure how this could happen since the side to side alignment has to be pretty much right on to line up the screw holes that secure the console and the storage box below the arm rest to the car.

I don't see how the center console could be misaligned unless something is really screwed up. When I replaced the heat seat bulbs there are two screws at the top of the console and another two at the bottom of the unit and you would really have to be vision impaired if you didn't get it back the right way.
