Caught a 330i driver ogling my TL today
I stopped at a grocery store today, to purchase a Coke out of their vending machine at the storefront. I spotted a newish 330i lurking around the parking lot when I parked. I guess the guy was driving around waiting to pick up his better half at the front door of the store.
As I was walking back to my car, the 330i driver had pulled over next to my car to ogle it - when he saw me returning so quickly he was startled and pulled away, looking surprised and embarrassed.
He made my day - that felt great! (hehe)

If I were you, I would have been ogling the 330i .. that's a sweet car and definitely on my list of cars I wish I could be in right now (if it weren't for that "winter" season).
Maybe he was thinking, "Damn, that's the ugliest ... " Point being, you never CAN tell what someone is thinking. <j/k>
Nice choice of color for your TL -- SSM/ebony .. very nice.
I get a lot of looks b/c of my 18" A-spec wheels.

Yes, I really like my color choice. A plus is that I don't have to worry about my kids hosing up the interior with dirty shoes.
FWIW, I've been hard pressed to hear any negative comments about the TL's exterior lines. What a killer car!

I like the current 3 series' and the previous 5 series' designs. I ogle those when I see them in the parking lot. I don't think the TL is any better, just different.

Don't know about that. Agreed, the TL is very pleasing to the eye but the current 3-series has to be the best looking sedan on the road, especially if you get the sport package. I love the extremely short, squared off overhang in the front and the smooth roofline. A very classy yet aggressive look. The design for the current 3-series has been out for several years now but I still find myself staring at those cars in admiration.
I wished the new TL had the same front styling rather than the pointy beak. I'm sure it'll grow on me. I've been going back and forth between the new 325/330i or the TL for weeks now. Tough decision.

TL-SHAWD 6MT Rocks!
in my view...
there is no way you can compare the interior of the 3 series with the new TL. It's like BMW didn't spend any money on designers, look at all those square buttons! how uglier can they get?
leather is like rough cardboard.
the 3 series is only pretty in the outside.
my friends don't fit in the back seat, what a pain!
and have you tried the silly navigation buttons in the 3,5 or 7?
no touch screen, or voice, so your only choice is to turn and push a round button until you drill down through many, many menus, then you need to drill out, option by option until you get to the top... talk about terrible design.
Germans need to learn to be more ergonomic, I did all this tests on my friends 330ci convertible + sports package 225hp(he paid $54k and still likes my car a LOT better) - no XM, no touch screen, no Voice, no wireless phone link (XM upgrade patch in April will cost him $800!)
A better design inside can be shown in the Z4 dasboard and mirrors, there is nothing square in any button or design in this car, and it all blends in much better.
but I'm glad not everybody has the same taste or we'd all be driving the same car! --- that would be boring.

Every Tom, Dick, and Harry has a 3 series and throw in a few Marys. The car is just too commonplace and I really am not impressed by someone in a 3. A 5 or a 7 is a different story. Plus 220 hp doesn't do it for me and the interior is no big deal. Really is too small of a car for me. Plus these little buggers go for over 40K.

I park my car outside my office. I can see it in the parking lot though my window. I like to wait until somebody gets really close, checking it out in detail, and then I hit the panic alarm on my key. You should see how high they jump and then how fast they run away! Always good for a laugh, no matter how bad my day is. (I know most of the people in the building--after the scare, I give them a call to ride them for a bit).
