car is totalled

So im driving to a party on new years eve going about 65-70 on a highway. im in the left hand lane. my buddy and his prego wife were in the right hand lane. this guy in front of my buddy decides right as im about to pass him to slam on his brakes and cut to the left because he wanted to turn down a road to the left. so i slam on the brakes but its raining. i slide right in to him. he is driving a z71 and he is 16. his rear bumper hits the top of my windshield.... yea his truck came up on my car. when i come to a stop my buddy is about to punch out the window. i yell to him im ok. the 16 year old gets out of his truck cussin and yelling that im at fault for the accident. i crawl out of the passenger side door and once i realize that im ok and so is he it got kind of ugly. my beautiful badass car is gone and im cut up because of an inexperienced driver that is a little kid in my face pointing fingers. anyway state pulls up checks everything out and believes me that the kid was at fault. i just dont get what the hell he was thinking. he got 2 tickets. i got my shit out and left with my buddy. just in time to have 2 beers before 2010 hit. so anyway..... it was a shitty new years eve but im glad it was me instead of my buddy with his prego wife.

Ouch, that sucks balls man. I hate people who don't own up to what they do. Glad the officer believed you, and don't worry, you'll be back on the road in a new TL in no time

Wow. Glad you are ok. Car can be replaced. The fact that you walked away is what matters!

At least the police had your back. It'll make things easier, but it's still going to be a pain.

Good luck and I hope we see you back.

Stupid F'n KID!!!! And if he would've put his young ass little bitch boy finger in my face that shit would've been broken. Then he would be explaining THAT to stste 5-0. He would've learned 2 valuable lessons that day. 1 how not to drive, and 2 not to put ur finger in someones face when he's in the wrong.

Holy crap man!! Thankfully you're ok...another testament to our cars' 5 star crash test rating. What a stupid, senseless event though. Hope everything works out for ya, and you salvage what you can.

Sorry, missed this part of your story:

How far above the speed limit were you traveling on a wet and rainy road?

HAHAHA i was not speeding. even if so that doesnt matter. if he knew you were supposed to be in left lane to turn left and if he wouldnt have been so inexperienced nothing would have happened. the speed limit is 65 where i was i was doing maybe 67 because cops are out for new years

Ditto on everybody walking away okay...

...that is one of the reasons I went with the TL, it's relatively good safety rating.

Did any airbags go off? I see some white, billowy stuff on the passenger side. I wouldn't think it would activate if no one was sitting there.

Hope insurance comes through - another TL??

I totalled an 06 TL a few years ago. what a great & safe car.

... Here's to a better New Year my friend!!

P.s., a wrecked car is always a blessing in disguise... as long as nobodys hurt, i am sure this will turn out in your favor

sorry, really hurts to see a TL like that. good thing no one got injured and caring about your friend and the prego wife is a very noble deed.

hey dude, we're obviously gonna have your back on here and not the other dude's (most times) but when you say "i was not speeding. even if so that doesnt matter." what exactly does that mean? You said it was raining....so speed should definitely matter. It's like if I said, Road conditions were dry, I was not following too closely, but even so that doesn't matter. It's all the same - We should never speed in rain or follow to closely ever. Yeah we're glad no one was hurt and sad for your car, we also hope that other kid goes to hell but to be honest this all sounds like it was something that you could have avoided
GL with everything.
