Car Shopping this weekend

Hey guys this is my first post, and I want to apologize in advance in case I have posted in the wrong section. I'm going car shopping this weekend in an attempt to replace my 2001 Cadillac DeVille since im having headbolt issues. I am in between an Acura TL and a Chevy Impala SS the impala is at 06 $14.5 with 45k the TL is an 06 TL for $17.5 and 55K I was just wondering is that a good deal for TL can I go lower or not and if yes what do I think would be the lowest out the door. The TL also has Navigation so I know that adds to the cost. Here is the link just incase anyone else is shopping as well.

I cant believe you even considering a "Chevy" Impala, that car is trash compared to a TL. In fact the TL is in a whole different category. I'd even take a altima over the impala.

Besides the Impala, that TL looks pretty dirty. See if you can find one that has been kept a little cleaner, you know?

Welcome to the forums. your going to get TL for an answer on an Acura thread. But even if you asked an outsider, they would probably lean dowager the TL cuz it simply is better. The price seems about right. GL on the purchase.

Wel the Impala is cheaper, lower mileage, and IIRC something like 300 horsepower. I don't blame you for considering it.

BUT it'll depreciate like a rock, and IMO the TL has a much nicer interior and exterior. Your best bet will be going with the TL. You won't regret it.

Have you test driven both cars yet?

Go with the impala if you want car issues down the road. Once a car age, there's a reason why people buy honda and Toyota.

go with the TL...you won't be dissapointed. also, everyone is gonna be biased around here. were head over heels in love with our TL's.

you can always try to negotiate price, the worst they'll say is no, but at least you can say you tried. do what i did, haggle...they'll say sorry we can't go that low, you'll walk out, and they'll call your cellphone 10 mins later and tell you that they think they can work something out for you. bottom line, you never know until you try, and be prepared to walk. your TL is out there somewhere.

good luck with your purchase, Berat, and welcome to the forum

Berat, first welcome to Acurazine.

Second, with this being an Acura forum, we're all TL homers. The price for this TL with Nav seems fair. SharksBreath is correct-you can always negotiate price. See if you can find more than one TL-they're out there!

Champion, you're being too harsh here. Obviously, your passion for the TL is coming through....let's just keep things in check, OK?

The Impala does have the 327 but when they first came out I rode in one and wasn't impressed, although this was a few years ago. (Same body style) I say get the TL.. More features and it's more stylish IMO, I see way more Impala SS's than TL's running around everywhere I go. But only you know what you want OP.

NOT how to treat a brand new poster.

I had an an '05 (I think; maybe '06) Impala for ~65k miles & 2 1/2 years. Not the SS. Good solid driver. Reliable while I had it and pretty comfortable on long trips.

TL is a HUGE step up from that though (I actually had both at the same time). If you can, find a TL that's been well cared for and don't look back.

And definitely get navi if you get a TL.

If you can afford the TL, go for that.
No offense at all, but I live in Iowa where there are tons of Impala's everywhere like they are fleet cars. I love my TL because they are rare and more refined.

Funny how things vary from place-to-place.

Around here you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a TL, but I rarely see Impala's.

FWIW - my Impala was a fleet car.

I live in Iowa for school and when I drive about 6 hours to see my parents in Illinois, I see more TL's than Impalas over there.
But go ahead and get the luxury TL like most of us think.

+1 TL's are all over the place. It was one of the down sides when considering it for me. But the A-spec kit makes up for it....I don't see those often.

Its funny that even some people on the Impala posted the TL would be a better choice just for the sake of reliability lol. So my mind is set on a TL and I have found a few online within driving distance that I could try and haggle down someone. I did find one that seems really clean and the carfax is superb with everything in check however it has 88K miles is that really all that big a deal for Honda/Acura should I be worry of going that route and the car that I posted up first has a reported accident but it looks like its just a minor scuff under the gas cap that can be buffed out.. I mean I could use that as bargaining option. But this is the other one that I saw, if you guys have time tell me what you think http://dealerinventorysolutions.home...0699A#tippytop

Having driven a newer Impala SS myself... they suck. They ride like boats and really aren't all that much faster than the TL. It's a product from Chevy, so naturally the interior is cheap feeling as usual.

88k miles is just getting warmed up. Honda/Acura engine reliability is legendary.

This guy (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/my-110-000-mile-journey-cost-issues-beyond-704808/) just sold his with 215,000 and if you saw it and rode in it, you'd think it had maybe 50k on it.

Good care goes a LONG way.
