My parent been saying that to me the day I got my license. Waste of money they said. But like all of you have mentioned, it's a hobby.

 

Surprisingly, no one really gives me any crap about my car spending, but I also dont really tell people how much $$$ I drop on parts...I won't tell most girls even if they ask, cuz most don't understand, just how we guys don't understand purses and shoes. The last girl I dated made a comment on how painfull it was to pay $900 to repair something in her old car....I replied with, "Funny, I sometimes spend more than that to replace a perfectly good part!" Her jaw dropped and she took up a condescending tone, making it obvious she thought it was stupid to spend that kind of money.

...This only foreshadowed that our relationship was on borrowed time. haha.

 

NOW this thread REALLY hits home/work.

AT work I get teased all the time. I just ignore them or make fun of their interests. One guy is into boating, he has 2, so I ask him why he spent so much money on 2 boats, does he put them side by side and put 1 foot in each boat?

I tell him I prefer my car, not into boating, if I wanted to go in the water I would take a bath, it gets me clean and is free except for heating the water.

In the past I have done MY SHARE of MEGA partying. I no longer WASTE $100+ every fri and sat night at the bars. I DON'T smoke weed, DO COKE, or ANY DRUGS. I golf a couple times a year, BUT DON'T spend $2k a summer at the golf course. I don't bowl on a league spending $30+ every night on beer/pizza.

I think all the guys I work with (who are all married) are just pissed/jealous of me. I am divorced and my son is 20 (NO MORE CHILD SUPPORT!!!) So I can do what I WANT with the $$$ I EARN.


Basically I earn my $$$ and can do whatever I WANT to do with it. I LOVE CARS and always will. If I ever win a lotto, I WILL BE A JR. JAY LENO.
