Car Cover

Did a quick search and can't find anything.

Anyone have the Acura Car Cover for the TL? How is it as an outdoor cover? Weather, etc. Longevity.

Any thoughts? I like the idea of a security lock, anyone have any other recommendations?

My problem with the Acura one is that they can't tell me how thing it is, etc.

I can find other covers from reputable places for a little less money with complete explainations of what they do, thickness, choice of options, etc.

I think I'll skip the Acura and go with this...

I have a Weathershield cover from Griot's on my RX-7 convertible. Got it based on a recommendation from my brother, who got one for his 1974 Beetle. Been very satisfied with it, especially as it has the side benefit of folding up small enough to fit into the minuscule trunk in the RX-7.

I have the "factory" Acura TL car cover (parts dept ordered it and gave it to me). It is pretty nice, and a PERFECT fit for the car.

It is made out of a cotton material, that is like a soft flannel on the inside and a possibly light weather resistant surface (maybe a Scotchgaurd type treatment). I wouldn't want to leave the cover out in the rain for an extended period. Seem like it is more made for inside the garage, covered parking, etc.

It does come with a locking cable and lock, and is greyish in color with the Acura logo on the front. It has a storage bag as well.

I had a similar one for my S2000 that was a perfect fit as well. I used it during the winter while it was parked in the garage for 4 months.

Hope that helps.

I'm getting the Acura car cover when I get my car, but you're saying its not made for outdoors?? I just moved in my new house and I still have boxes in the garage. When I get my brand new TL I want to use the cover till I get everything out of the garage. It rains like crazy here in FL.

I bought a car cover for my TL, but hardly ever use it. I hate how it leaves smear marks on the windows when you take it off. Paid $160 for a top-of-the-line one that was weather proof and everything. It was custom fitted for the car, which was nice (fits like a glove).

I've had several California Car Covers and they are the absolute best covers you can buy. One thing about car covers is they can do more damage than they prevent if you put it on a dirty car. I only use my cover when my car has just been washed or waxed and I want to store if for several days or longer. Using one outdoors on a dirty car is going to scratch and damage the finish.

I only use a car cover for storage in a building.

Cotton cover that will breathe and not trap mositure.

I agree that you should only put covers on a clean car unless you have a gang of people to install so you do not pull the cover over the paint.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered one. They said it might take 2-3 weeks if not in stock.

I got mine from here: http://www.bigtimepurchase.com and no regrets. I think the Acura one is overpriced and not that great quality.

I don't drive my TL in the winter (about 2 months in VA.) I have the genuine Acura cover and use is outside, works just fine. Of course I always wash and wax it before putting it away for the winter. It is breathable though and will have some very fine dust under it when you take it off (anything soluable in water is fair game on any breathable cover.) No big deal though, rinse and go.
