Some fun with a G35c 6MT
Some fun with a G35c 6MT
I've seen a few G35c's around my way but I never had the chance to battle a 6-speed. I'm always usually pretty even or a car length behind the 5AT, so I was pretty anxious to see how I'd do against the 6-speed, which is obviously quicker. I got my chance tonight in my bone-stock TL-S.
I was just sitting at the red light in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn when a white G35c flies up to the light. He starts revving his engine at me, so I disengage the VSA, shut off the A/C, turn off the radio, and get ready to rumble.
Light #1: I peeled out at the light (good launch) and he stalled a bit so I was ready to go. Fortunately, the first time around we were dead-even going up to the next light. He probably would've gotten me in fourth gear, but luckily the next red light ended all possibilities of that happening.
Light #2: He started revving pretty aggressively at the next light, so I decided to torque-brake it up to 1500rpm. I knew I was toast because he was ready to go. Sure enough, there was PLENTY of wheel spin from both of us. We were even in first gear, he was a car length ahead in second gear, and by third gear he was surely ahead of me by about a car and a half. The sick part was he chirped out in ALL three gears, even though I could tell he shorted third a little. The reaction from my friend was, ''damn those 6-speeds are fast.''
So there you have it. The G35c 6MT is a fucking monster. It was the first time I had opened my car up in a while and it felt good. The guy was pretty cool too. I just can't wait to get my new car... those G35's will be playing catch-up.
