Can't Find ATF Fill Hole
Can't Find ATF Fill Hole
Ive been searching on my laptop for about 3 hours while also looking at my transmission with no success. The only bolt hole that looks like 17mm has a hose connecting to the top of it. Every other bolt is either 10mm or 12mm. Here's a pic of said bolt.
This is from the garage, https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/rr-journals-atf-drain-refill-3g-garage-c-012-a-556044/. Page 2 has an actual photo.

See thats the bolt I thought it was!! But if you look in my original post that is THE bolt but it has that 90 degree steel hose with the rubber hose coming off of it. I am so confused as to why it is there and why I seem to be the only one who has one there

not sure if your being sarcastic or acknowledging that the ATF fill bolt is simple to locate
I mean am I wrong, I dont want to give the wrong advice, it was a quick glimpse where it was located, he wiggled the fuse box to gain access. It looked like it said ATF etched in the bolt. lol
But I like to continue to gain knowledge where important fluid fill bolts and drain bolts are before I ever tackle DIY. But for now I am too chicken shit to do on my own.

This whole TL Gen should all have the same fill bolt location. And you've looked around in that area like a bit underneath the fuse box area.
Its a bit hard to see clearly where your focusing on.

If you compare my first pic to this one, you will see that the electrical connector in the diagram is the same one in my picture, and that 90 degree elbow is where the fill bolt is. And what trans fix are you talking about? Because that would make sense as to why mine seems different than everybody else's!

Yep upon further research my car was one of the recalls, and had the 2nd gear oil jet installed into the fill bolt. There anyway to take this out temporarily to speed up the process? I feel like I should be able to pull it out but I don't want to break anything.
yes, you can remove the retaining bolt and hose(hose clamp first) then slide out the jet. Just make sure the O-ring isn't damaged. personally I would just fill through the dipstick tube as mentioned earlier

Filling through the dipstick isn't too bad. The hardest part was finding a funnel with a small enough tip to fit without spilling everywhere. I would guess the opening is 3/8ths inch or so. I couldn't find anything off the shelf and had to drill a hole in the end of a pen cap then tape the cap to the end of a standard transmission funnel.
There must be a better way...let me know what you figure out and good luck!

That rubber hose is for the ATF cooler. I had this issue, take out the small bolt that holds the bracket for the rubber hose, then just pull the whole hose part away. It shouldn't require hardly any force at all! That is the fill hole.
Ran across this same issue today with my 2004. I read in the service records that it was called in for a second gear transmission recall. I knew that was the correct bolt, but couldn't figure out why the 90° elbow and hose were attached to it.
All I did was remove the 12mm bolt on the bracket and it pulled right out of the fill bolt.
