Canadian TL'rs....How many Km's are you getting per tank???
#41
Redpoint, yes I have posted the same in the tsx forum. Bcos I am trying to decide between the two. I have narrowed it down to acura tl or tsx from other options. And I have had a 95 camry on which I measured the fuel efficiency and it gave me 100 km. I am a bit of a science guy and like to test things myself. but please note that this was on 90 percent highway and I was addicted to horsepower.

I know this is an old thread but can I see my average L/100 kms or even km's to empty if i have a model without navigation? I just got my 06 and filled it up and the first half of the tank went down surprisngly fast, I think i'm at about 1/4 left and I'm only at about 275 km's driven. It's 100% city driving but I haven't been driving it very hard. I'm interested in seeing how many km's i get once the low fuel light comes on. I also filled up down in Washington (i'm from vancouver) so i'm not sure if that makes a difference aside from being ridiculously cheap to fill it.

However i get no more than 300kms each tank 45-46L 100% Vancouver city driving
I do feel a difference in power when i put Chevron 94 but that causes me to use more gas LOL

mostly highway, I think Canadian gas(91) gives me better MPG than US E10 gas(93)...
btw, I really think the units in the poll should be miles.. lol. it's not impossible to go 400miles(640km) a tank.
If the trip is ever so slightly downhill, very easy to get 5.0-5.5L/100km
However, I do understand why it's in kms, seeing GTA drivers
1. going fast nowhere (when there's already a red light half a click ahead, they pass me WOT, then brake hard)
2. trying to record best 0-60 time every stoplight. why? .. to get quickly to the next stoplight which is probably gonna turn red?
3. trying to tailgate in order to not let other people in. Gosh for Canada's sake. I use my blinker to signal "plz let me in"
I thought Canadians were supposed to be nice.
those 3 hurt MPG bad.

I thought they'd be much better than they are on gas but i'm in the lower mainland too, so pretty much all city driving. I guess I haven't been driving as much lately since I haven't finished off this first full tank, but tomorrow it'll be done for sure. I'm going to run it until the light comes on and see what I get. I just find it funny because the seller claimed he got 540 km's to a tank - yeah right. I believe I'm around 335 km's driven so far. I wish I knew what L/100 km's that works out to on average. Ripping around in my old C6 in the same areas would be about 19L/100 km's and I think it cost about the same to fill and i didn't get much less km's. I ghuess it's hard to make comparisons on "i thinks" and "if i can remember correctly's" though.

I am from US, get 23-24 mpg which would convert to about 9.7kpl, meaning I'm getting about 655 k per tank. Your problem is, when the fuel light comes on you probably still have 11+litres still in the tank. Your tank capacity is about 67 litres. How many litres are you putting in with a fill up? That will tell you how much is left in the tank when your light comes on.

I bought my car with 78km (07 TL-S 5at).
I put 100km extra on it, I avg 8L/100km in summer months and 9L/100km in winter months. I get 600+ km per tank on fuel ups (never go to empty, leave a few ticks on the bar).
I mainly do highway roughly 80-85% @ 120km/h

Okay, finally got through my first tank. It was 350 km's right down to the km when my low fuel light came on. That was from full. That's all city/stop and go driving and a new to me car that i got on the gas a few times but didn't rip around at all. It seems much much worse than previous cars i've driven like 06 tsx and 09 cr-v but oh well. The funny thing is i just put in 40 dollars at roughly 1.40 and it only gave me just over a half tank. if i remember correctly the last half of the tank got me around 200 km's. that seems pretty bad. i guess it'd only bug me if this was abnormal but it seems like i'm getting average mileage for all city driving based on this thread.

If cheap (cheap to make such as K&N) foam filters were better, manufacturers would use them. They would jump at the chance to boast higher power and fuel economy; the fact is they don't work. In fact, foam filters have been found to be less effective at removing dust from the air. So the 1 function a filter has, to filter air, the K&N does worse than a paper filter.

On my TSX, the gas light will come on when there is about 4 gallons left, or 15 liters. That means I can drive nearly 200 km further after the light comes on. The TL has the same fuel capacity of 64.7 L. You can calculate how much fuel is remaining when the fuel light comes on by immediately filling the tank the next time it comes on. Subtract the amount of fuel put in by 64.7 L, and you will get the amount of fuel remaining when the light came on; likely close to 15 L.
I believe the previous owner of your TL could get 540 km if they drove more efficiently, or had less stop and go than your commute. Not to mention you can drive way beyond the DTE display. I've had multiple 800 km tanks on my TSX.
Cold will kill fuel economy, but the manual shouldn't, unless you are mostly highway driving.

in vancouver... i'm going to say it's impossible to get 540 kms in this auto. the only time i get to experience this "highway mileage" is when I cross the border and head down towards seattle on the i5. i always get a kick out of the local craigslist ads selling cars and claiming all highway miles. lol
