Camry v6 wanted to play

Drivin' home on the freeway from work about 4a.m when some headlights I didn't recognize pulls up next to me and paces me. I try to slow down to see what i'm up against but he stays with me. I notice it was a new camry but unsure what type. I drop down to 50 & drop it into 2nd and take off. I pull about a car length ahead of him till about 120 and slow down. He pulls for a couple of seconds then slows down to my speed(v6 modded exhaust). I slow down to about 50 and again we take off. Same results but maybe 2 cars till about 125 (we started seeing traffic) Although thinkin' I would fare better results (i/h/e/p) I was happy with my results and slowed to 70. he slows down and paces me again! I try to see who's drivin but he was leanin' so far back i couldn't! My exit was comin' up and the whole time he tried to do another run!

Actually I was getting ready to call Sosed a liar b/c those things are rated at 268HP w/ 248 lb/ft of torque. No way a bone stock 2GTLS could stay with those, but then I see where he said he had some mods on his TLS.

I think a stock 2g tl-s would hang(not beat) with a stock new camry V6, but I think the 2g cl-s 6mt would take it!

Nice run, didn't realize the Camry would give you that good of a run, I thought they were only 5spd AT.

Nevermind I looked them up on-line at the Toyota website, the XLE comes with a 3.5L motor option with a 6spd A/T, I think it also has manumatic, then again I'm not to sure. Too bad Acura can't get us some 6spd A/T, that would be lovely.

I'd still take a 3g tl over a new camry even if it isn't as fast

I like the way the camry looks, with the kit availible from factory they look nice. I like the TL, but too, I'm not sure which I would take, the Camry has been rated car of the year several times, and 2 years in a row now. They're very reliable, but they don't get as many chics as the TL, lol.

k guys.. i used to own a camry 01 xle... modded it to hell... headers, cai, exhaust, goldchip, u name it... toyo performance tires.... i had about 225 going to the wheels.. and it was still fun.. i used to walk TLpS all the time (sad thing is i own a TLP now .. thats y i need to get my mods on lol) ... sigh...

plus the new 07 camry will walk a TLS anyday... (stock) ....thats just one race.. iv'e raced and seen races of the new camrys run many different cars in my neighborhood. (my friend has one) .... that car is NOT ONLY A BEAST... its definetely not a grandpa's car... let me tell u that....

its soooo SMOOTH... feels like ur gliding... and pushes u back.... only thing is.. a cAMRY is always a cAMRy and it doens't have the sporty feeling to it... the only good thing about the TL vs the new camry is.. the TL is a luxury car . and it has the brandname of ACURA and the sporty feeling...

my friend has a 07' SE V6 with oem factory kit, lip spoiler.

with your 07 Camry assertion. The new 2GR-FE powered Camry makes it a bonafide sports sedan with enough ability to fitfully challenge VQ Nissan sedans and take down stock TLs (TL-S included).

Well maybe the 2gtl-s but not the 3gtl-s. Like I said I think 6mt cl-s stock would match up very nicely w/ o7 v6 camry! What do they run in the quarter?

true.. but wats teh point of comparing too different types of car.. i mean for a car tahts in a totally different division... its matching up pretty nicely wtih the TL/CL....

its like saying... a HONDA can match up to a lexus...

Maybe the older sedans but the new VQs will slaughter it pretty easily (5.2 to 60!). Supposedly the coupe is getting the 3.7L so the Camrys are gonna have to race the TL for FWD supremecy

My statement was geared towards the Altima and Maxima (VQ35DE) not the new G35 (VQ35HR).

Bear in mind that until track season opens up all we have to go on (as far as the new TL-S goes) is mag times....which show the TL-S to be only slightly quicker than the regular TL. Motorweek pulled off a 0-60 time of 6.8 sec with a 1/4 mile time of 14.9 sec @ 99mph. The trap speed combined with the 0-60 and ET tells me that launching it could be tricky but when it hooks up LOOK OUT!! I am fairly certain we will be seeing these posts low 14 sec ETs in stock trim at the track.

14.9seconds@99mph, wow I thought they would pull better than that!

Anyway TRD made a supercharger for the late 90's Camry, not sure if they sold many, but it's pretty funny that it was available, then again Keene Bell made a S/C for the Jeep Liberty. lol

With a trap like that but a VERY high 14 second ET it sounds like the CV6 is getting bogged down off the line. The trap tells me that the CV6 is VERY capable. Guys on the Lexus site who own the very quick Lexus IS350 stated that the heavier Avalons have given them a good runs so the ligher CV6 might fair a little better. The 2GR motors (306hp FSE or 269hp FE) are nothing to take lightly.

I just had this black camry(07' V6) try to race me on my way home last night! I just waited for him and when he got close I'd just pull away! & now that my headers aren't leaking it makes so MUCH of a difference. I can't believe how much power the camry's have. I'd be pissed If I had a stock TL & my mom had a CamryV6 cuz my mom would have the faster car!
