Is the A/C on or off?

So if I turn on my fan without A/C and then I shut it off, once I turn my fan back on, I'm unsure if it's turning it on with A/C on or off.

Here's what I do.
- turn fan on
- the dash display doesn't say AC on or off. It's just blank
- I press the AC button and it says AC off. And the text stays there until I turn off the car or off the fan.
- I press the AC button again and it says AC on. And the text stays there until I turn off the car or off the fan.
- I turn off the fan and then turn it on again. The display is blank. If i press the AC button, it will say AC off, if I press again, it will say AC on.
So I'm not sure if the AC is actually on or off when I initially turn on my fan without pressing the AC button.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Unless it says "a/c off", it's on.

But it doesn't say A/C on either. And when I press the A/C button twice it'll say A/C on. I just don't get why they designed it that the A/C automatically comes on when I turn on the fan. It's an extra step to turn it off every time I turn the fan on.

I always press the A/C button first to turn it on, then I set my fan setting, just so I'm sure that it's on. If I want it off, I press the A/C button twice. Pressing the fan buttons by themselves will turn the A/C on in my experience.

Because it's an automated HVAC system in a luxury sedan. You specify a temperature and you let it do its thing. It'll adjust fan and temp controls accordingly.

I always leave the fan on when I shut the car off. That way the ac stays off next time I start the car.
