Bye Bye TL...Lancer GTS pricing

So I have decided to give up the 04 TL I have had for just little over 4 years. I going to be going with a 2011 Lancer GTS.....couple of questions for any one with experience with the Lancers.....
The pricing I got from the dealer was:
2011 GTS 5spd with leather and nav
with 7k down and a interest rate of 5.9
the final price of the car after taxes and fees is 21986 which breaks down to
260 a month.
Good? Not good?
Thanx?

Are you trading in the TL? If so, you're not going to get shit for it. I'm assuming the 105k service hasn't been done yet and the dealership is going to hold that against you.

Good luck with the new ride! The guys over in Car Talk may be more helpful with answering questions about the Lancer.

dealerships usually dont look at upkeep when trading. My 02 Tl-S needed lots of stuff when i traded in and they gave me more than it was worth.

they gave me 5k and i had 187k on it

My 2002 had 166,000km (103,150miles) on it, needed tranny work, and I got $5,000. for it...OP sell privately if you have to sell...

I dont the dealer cars about the upkeep on the car at all....these guys just started my car up looked at the miles and inspected the outside they were more concerned about the body of the car and that it had no damage/work done to it....I have tried to sell the car privately but the offers are i get are ridiculous.....105k mile service? why whats soo important about the 105k?

Dont do it! If ur TL has nav juss keep it, its wayyyy better than a lancer. U r gonna lose LED tail lights and HID head lights. but if ur gonna spend 20K, i would get the Honda CR-Z

I personally wouldn't trade my tl for a lancer. An evo? maybe. But not a lancer.

Trading in your TL for a lancer is the equivalent of downgrading to a base Honda civic.

Why did you decide to get out of the TL and what attracted you to the Lancer?

Sell it on your own. The dealer will normally kill you on trade-in and used car values are up currently anyway. See what you get for it and go from there. The Lancer is a good ride and I completely understand your desire to have a car that's new with 0 miles, etc.

I wouldn't trade it for the lancer, that doesn't mean a lancer is bad. The style and look is awesome. Nice interior and good handling. Very comfortable. But the reason I wouldn't trade it is because of the horsepower, 168 hp is not attractive considering is a sport car. Yes Is true, it has good fuel economy with it's 2.4 liter motor but still baggy I will never trade it. 105000 miles is nothing, the car can last manyyyy years. I will not mind getting a Mitsubishi in the future but it will ne'er be better than an Acura even if Mitsubishi has more than 60 years of existence.

5.9 rate sounds steep.. i dont believe it's that high in SoCal. Finance through a bank or credit union. rate is like 4.07 for 72 mo (dang long time).

I wouldnt do it personally.

Worse. The Lancer will be far less reliable and have worse resale value.

Sorry bro, imo don't do it, mitsubishis' lancer is a pile. I used to work at a Mitsubishi dealer, and they're bottom of the totem pole. If you want my advise i think Honda/Acura is definitely one of the top car manufactures in the world, and the best motor company in the world. Also for you, and anyone else out there, don't ever trade your car in unless it's an emergency. Car dealers make a killing on trade ins. They might make it seem good, but 99% of the time it's a rip. Just my .02

To answer your question its the water pump/timing belt maintenance and if you plan on putting another 105K miles on the car it would be wise to have it done. Depending on who and where you get it done at it can run ya anywhere from $500-$1400.

My brother has one, they feel so numb to drive... the manual may as well be an auto, it's impossible to mess up shifting that car.

have you sat in one yet? were you not turned off by the cheap plastic interior? much rather get into a civic if you're looking for fuel economy. Honda is/will be more reliable.

can someone post interior/exterior photos of the 2012 Lancer GTS? curious...

So you've done the biggest maintenance item on the car recently and are now planning on getting rid of it because you think it's maintenance will become a problem?

And on top of that you are jumping in to a Mitsu thinking it will give you better reliability? So many WTF's. Since you've done the tbelt and waterpump, just sell it privately on here someone will buy it in no time.

it's okay, someone else will appreciate your TL.

you're paying MORE for less. it boggles my mind. No HIDs, no LED tails, smaller interior, inferior materials, far weaker engine, noisier and probably harder ride and all around less refined. Power seats? Heated seats? Memory seats? Dual Zone climate control? Rear HVAC vents? Auto dimming mirror? Auto tilt down mirrors? 6 disc changer? XM ready? Mirror Defrost?
