Buying from a private party

There is a guy selling a TL w/ 2700 miles and I'm thinking about making an offer (altho he wants too much for it!). If I buy from a private party, the warranty and roadside assistance transfer with it as well yes? Do I need to do anything to make sure it transfer correctly?

I believe in the back of the owners manual there is a form the seller must fill out to transfer the info.

There is a separate booklet covering warranties, and the form is located in the back of that booklet.

The manual does not specifically state that second and future owners are covered, but it says the warranty begins on the date the vehicle is delivered to the first purchaser by an Acura dealer, and it doesn't say anything about not covering future owners.

The form is only used to inform Acura of a change in ownership so any notifications can be sent to the proper person. You are not required to register the transfer of ownership with Acura, but it is a good idea to send in the card in case of recalls or other information which Acura may need to send.

I have purchased several used vehicles from private parties and the warranty is absolutely transferable. That is why you can get the most car for your money if you purchased something that is about two years old.

the warranty goes with the car until time or mileage cause it to expire. as far as the roadside i am not 100% but i would think it transfers as well.

I would be more concerned about why they are selling it so soon - I mean, it is dumb to ask them, but I have several times got a guy or his wife to spill the beans by using an old cop trick - a leading question, such as "don't you hate taking your car in for service?". I had one lady just matter of factly say, "yes, we have had lots of trouble" while her husband stared daggers at her.

I agree, I mean, there would have to be a pretty big reason as to why this person is going to take such a hit on selling this car. Even if I hated a car, and it was brand new, I would wait at least a year to sell, so I wouldn't feel like such an ass.

I'm guessing personal reasons or he was expected more from the car.

I already asked that...he said that he originally wanted a sports car and the wife convinced him to buy the TL and he hasn't driven it that much (2700 miles since April). The only thing is...in Colorado the market is way inflated....I wouldn't be surprised if he sells this non-navi for over 30k. People are just stupid here. I can't get a dealer to go below 32k on a brand new one. It is rediculous. I'll keep you posted on what I do!
