Buying Close to Home?
Buying Close to Home?
I have been talking with three dealerships about my order of an 05 TL. One dealership is in Ohio, about 150 miles away, one dealership is in eastern Pennsylvania, about 260 miles away, and one dealership is close to my home. The distant dealerships are quoting prices far below the local, anywhere from 1200 to 1600 dollar discounts. The local salesman keeps warning me about buying from a dealership that is across the state. He talks about loyalty to the customer, oil changes, and warranty work; however, his price reflects only a discounting of the destination charges, 570 dollars. I suspect that I can get good service at any authorized Acura dealership regardless of where I purchased my car. However, it gives me pause to wonder. Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter? Any bad experiences to share? Should I stay local?
I think you will get good service no matter where you buy the car. I live in Portland, OR and bought a G35 in Las Vegas because the only dealer in town at the time was asking $2500 above MSRP. When I brought my car in for service I was treated very well even though they knew I bought the car in a different state.
I live in MD and bought my TL in NJ last march. I have had no problems with getting service or a loaner from the Acura dealer in VA that I use. I was working with the sales staff at the VA dealer and they could not come close to the price that the NJ dealer was offering. He said to come back for service and they would still give me the 1st oil change free as they do with their customers. The dealer makes $$ on service and they realized that.
