I have a budget. I looked at Mercedes, Infinity, Lexus, Honda (and even MDX)--so you can see I have different criteria--before I decided on the '08 TL Base I picked up last week.
When I sit behind the wheel, the 3G fits me right--like my favorite blue jeans--and when I get out and look at her, she still looks sexy for an old girl and I know she'll run forever if I treat her right.
See?...Simple.
UPDATE: I have since test driven more vehicles to figure out what I want. I decided not to go for the Charger because there are way too many on the road here in Vegas. I drove the MazdaSpeed3, Ford Focus ST, Subaru WRX/STI. I liked the Subaru, but still felt like I was missing something. After that I took my Acura Legend 6 spd for drive and was reminded why I had bought this vehicle. I want that feeling again! So, I'm looking for a Acura TL Type-S 6spd now. I reorganized my budget as I'm on the path to being debt free (except for my condo). Will to hold out for a nice one. Any thoughts?

You think any of us are going to disagree with your plan of getting a Type-S MT?

We all wish we had the ability to take the time to find one of those in decent shape for a decent price.

Start looking now and saving up toward it. Expand your search area and maybe take a day-trip to look at a couple and get a good feel for the market--I do and I think Horeshoez does, too, and prolly so do a lot of guys here. Heck, if you dumped your condo you might be able to pry Breezy's beauty out of his hands--It's a start... Good Luck!

still everyday I look at my 05 tl and think damn that’s a hot car! In my opinion their is no better looking car than these 3g (well unless I had a lot of $$). I may be in the minority here but I haven’t had any problems with my auto with almost 200k miles and I ream on this thing. Go with your gut, I got my car and made it fast and will continue to make it faster because that’s what’s fun to me. I also don’t like looking like every other car out there, To each his own.
I’m with you on the styling. I drove a few Chrysler rentals and holding that plastic steering wheel in my hand got old before I hit the airport exit (yes it was base model not srt8). The cheaper interior would bother me a lot more in the long run than being slower in a 0-60.
That’s just me though, but I’ve not felt like I needed my TL to be faster. I though of doing some mods to get a bit more engine note and a bit more personality from the car that way but I never got to it, so it’s stock even after 10 years. Anyways don’t listen to me, my daily driver is a minivan.

Been there, done, that, got the tee-shirt. Back when the 3G TL came out I was like, "Ohhh, I want one." Unfortunately the minivan, which became a priority due to a growing family in 1998 was still a priority when the last 3G TLs left the assembly line in 2008. Fast forward to 2017, the last of our four minivans went away and a 2006 TL 6MT found it's way into my garage.
