Burnt Side Mirror

Hi guys,

Ive done some searching on this but everything is very dated.

My side mirrors are burnt and look like crap, and I am looking for the best option to replace the glass or those mirros that go on with an adhesion pad, that I cant find anywhere anymore.

Replace with the OEM mirror glass. They cost around $40 each.

The mirror sub-assemblies aren't too expensive.

$40 each - #2/#6

Next time wipe the saltly water off and don't leave the mirror heaters on...

Mine are still "burning" without the heater on. The heaters work properly as they were used during this shitstorm of a winter we had with no problem. Other than that I've never used them.

I believe the problem is water. I've looked at the mirrors of other hondas, S2K, NSX, Civic, and the all have this black rubber lining around the mirror's edge. I wonder why we don't have these.

This is my inconclusive answer.

Agreed. I have to replace mine this spring. Crappy design for sure for a higher-end car.

Yeah I agree, our mirrors do not have that rubber lips around the edge of the glass.

So I guess they might have known about it. My cousins 04 BMW 330i doesnt have the rubber/plastic edge lip and hers is rusting too.

Its a vulnerable spot for the glass, i had to replace my driver's side glass due to the burnt appearance.

Mine is burning as well. I don't even turn on the heater, but the tints are still burning. Why is that?

It's a conspiracy for you to go out and purchase the new TLX

Mine wasn't nearly as bad but here's a link to a thread from 6 weeks ago with tons of information. Specifically check out the two links in post 8. Probably better to add to that thread than this one.

Summary:
- replacement gass is $40
- takes 5 min to switch out
- I recommend putting silicone sealant around the entire perimeter of the glass to prevent it from oxidizing in between the glass and the laminate backing (it's not burning or from the heaters...)
