Burnt a new STI hatchback

We got a couple good runs. I dont know why but we had no traffic and just "happen" to run into one another. We ran from about 55 and 60 to over 100 both times. I stayed in 3rd (but probably could have been in 2nd but my rear tires are balding for traction). He hung in for about 10 mph then I just started pulling away. Cool guy---had a long go-tee. Said he had headers (didnt know they made them for the STI), intake, catback. I told him he had a nice ride, he told me "yours is nicer.." Nice guy

I had an extra passenger and had the Top Down as well, but it was a lot of fun. My passenger pissed his pants.

Nice dude! Corvettes are monsters lol, I love them so much, it's just hard for me to love USDM, don't know why. You have any videos of your Vette?

good to see everyone being cool.

fyi: yes, they make headers, equal and unequal; they fit all the EJs across the board

If I'm not mistaken (and a little off topic), the base WRX is quicker and faster than the STi now. That said, the C6 makes for a great reality check for drivers of "juiced up" subcompacts.

Nice kill! I'm guessing it would take a lot of mods for an Sti to smoke a Corvette.

^ depends -- wouldn't take much at all for an sti to give a cocky lazy-footed mid-life crisis type with a base c6 a good and proper pantsing at a red light ... highway, it would take at least a 40 or 50-something lb/min turbo and all the support (fuel system, bolt-ons, tuning, ic/bc, etc.) that would entail.

kind of a foolish proposition for an sti to get into a mod-for-mod pissing contest with a vette though...two different worlds.

f23a4: i'm not sure about stock-stock, but the tuners are all sweet on the vf52 found in the rex. it's been the bolt-on darling in the legacy community for some time now, too, as the 'easy way' to put 300/300 @ all 4.

The Vette is REALLY hard to launch/hook up off the line. Takes a lot of skill/practice. If you try flooring it at all in 1st gear, the tires go up in smoke. Takes a careful balance of throttle and clutch to rocket off the line without lighting up the tires. An STi, I would imagine, would hook up a lot easier/quicker. But there is a pretty decent power difference 90 mph+ that I noticed between a C6 and new STi hatch.

The C6 4th gear rips 110-150. Its pretty crazy how quickly the speedo gets to 150. I need to shoot a vid......

That's the great thing about the LSx... Sweet torque curve, which is even better on the new LS3s. Not to mention the latest model C6 has a launch control system that'll get a near-perfect launch even on street tires.

Imagine if you got gears for your Vette it would be a beast. I'm not too sure but a lot of the F-Body guys go from a 3.43 final drive to 4.10 which gives them a huge gain in acceleration, and makes the gears damn near as short as in STis and Evos. But you'll of course probably lose a few MPGs.

C6s are so awesome... I imagine you're seeing 30 mpg or more?

Yea, I have the Z51 3.42 gears, but I heard the 4.10's are an awesome upgrade and make 6th gear useful for top speed. Oh yea, and about that 30 mpg, I've averaged 13.1 mpg over the life of my ownership per the on board computer. My lead footed right sneaker might be the problem though...

Lmao nice, yeah my brother on his C5 Zo6 it showed he was doing 19.1mpg. I think that was city though or maybe mixed whatever.

Not too OT...the guys at C&D or Motortrend or whoever got those times used the launch control and no lift shift(dropped the clutch and powershifted). They said it felt like it was damaging the car and they did not do the same for the STi.

my leggy is getting a vf52 once the vf40 takes a shit =) great oem turbo upgrade without the STI swap. most of our members are seeing a little over 300/300 and thats on all stock fueling, with some DW 7's and a walbro the vf52 is all we need lol

You guys should go E85! My friend's Evo X is pushing 450/380 with intake, cams, TBE, crushed stock BOV on an E85 tune. Still has the stock turbo too and it spools up with the quickness!

I don't own one nor knowing anyone that has one, but have done some research due to of getting one for the wife (maybe). The WRX actually is very close to the STi beside factory souped up. Tuners are usually go for WRX and go from there.

Wow....im surprised you pulled a cammed C5 Z06 (i imagine without spray being used) in an LS2 C6. From what I've read, it should be a drivers race stock vs. stock.

Your C6 looked like an auto too, so you must be spraying and not truly "stock." I'm on to you....
