I used the Home Depot gutter guards on my old TSX. Use tin snips to cut the mesh. You may want to wear leather gloves as the cut edges are very sharp.

Powdercoated mesh can be purchased from Custom Car Grills (link). I purchased the "12x48 Hexagon Grill Mesh Powdercoat Black" (*not* the XXL size) from CustomCarGrills. Service was good. Product was not packaged too well although.

The lower mesh grills here look awesome imo. If I had some dremel skills, I would do this in a second. Pic stolen from PPLAPW

One thing to keep in mind is cut the mesh to size before you dremel out the grill bars as the grill will become very sloppy once the bars are cut out. And once sloppy then its hard to get the mesh to the right shape.

The answer is yes! You need to remove the front bumper in order to take them out.. The bumper is really wasy to take off. Can be done in less than 10 minutes.

No need to remove the bumper at all. 6 clips only. if you have a spec lip that needs to come off first, but not the bumper

what keeps the mesh in place? is it just the force between the plastic part of the grill and the bumper or do the clips hold it up? i am going to be doing this with in the next few days and i want to get all the info i can and do this thing right the first time

its been a while for this thread, but im about ready to do this mod the right way. i have a ghetto set up right now...

my question is how do i cut the mesh to fit insert. ie: does it have to fit in the insert? or does it have to be indentical in size to the insert? or what?

What I did was used the insert as a pattern "before" I cut the vert/horiz bars out then cut the mesh to fit just inside the insert. I found if it was behind the insert it didn't allows the insert to pop back in place.

I then cut out the bars and JB welded the mesh in place.
