Bumper from Ebay?

Well, I am almost 10 months removed from a minor fender bender and I have yet to fix my bumper, which has a nasty crack close to the headlights.

I can get a decent price for the bumper cover from vendors here, and I even think my local dealer will price match an invoice. But as you all know, they just come primed...

Then I found this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_4324wt_918

Has anyone heard about these guys before? What drew me in was the "authenticity" of the bumper cover (actually having "ACURA" instead of nothing like some other aftermarket options) and the fact that it would come painted for that price!

Legit? Possible hack job in the making? Seem to have an overly positive rating on ebay.

you have a WDP, which to my knowledge is a tri-coat paint

There is a 70.00 charge for all tri-coat paints and any custom matching based off of a sample sent to our facility.
so tack on 70$ extra

internet shopping is hit or miss, especially ebay, it's kind of proceed at your own risk really.

Your throwin the dice for a color match.

For WDP I would have a quality shop color match to the fenders in person.

Also, you don't know what's under that primed bumper. Could be a re-conditioned used bumper, meaning it's had body work done.

Personally I would get new OEM, and go to a quality paint shop.

Wow, this might be my answer, but I have NBP - is that a tri coated paint? I've been told that is an easy color to match.

From what I can tell they have 128 feedback at 100% and a neutral. However, about have of that is body work and things before June 16th were odds and ends.

Yeah I noticed that too. Though people seemed to be generally pleased with the bigger pieces. I even think I saw an Audi fender in the mix.

Images has a good point. I guess I secretly hoped WDP wasnt tri coat .

OP I've seen countless bumpers on eBay, off of wrecked cars, that were salvaged for around ~$150. Even if you can't find a WDP, you can always pick one up and have it painted?

I've been thinking this too. That's 100 bucks saved right there at least from buying at the dealer, as long as its in good condition.

The salavaged ones on ebay havent been great lately... lots of gashes and slashes. Gotta keep looking!

And it's cheaper, believe it or not! Thanks for the tip. Will look into this!

Also, thanks for that website. Will see if anything local arises.

Just curious, just say I had them paint my bumper NBP (b92p paint code) and they shipped it back too me. Would it color match? I thought after a certain period of time the color changes (from the weather and other stuff)?

Well, at least it would be business as usual for WDP
My current bumper is just slightly off in color!

Guys, thanks for all the options as I am too looking for another choice that is reasonable for my bumper. My thing is that I have an in tacked bumper that just has a ton of paint chips from the last used dealer painting the bumper previously - and terribly. I like this idea of the eBay bumper but I am thinking if it is even practical if a body shop or whomever to just sand and paint my existing bumper for a reasonable price. The chips are terrible! .....sorry for the slight thread hijack!

A few things should be taken into consideration. The average front bumper takes a major amount of abuse over time. Used bumpers ussually show it. Now, if you looking for a "flawless" OEM finish, you can't just sand down and repaint if the bumper has deep pits, chips and deep scratches. It must be sanded, primed, then sanded again before paint. It's not cheap, if your getting good, proper paint work. The labor can add up. But, you can get lucky and find a mint used bumper that just needs to be sanded/paint. Pretty rare though. Even if a used bumper looks mint, who knows what's under the paint, front bumper repairs are very common. If your not picky about the paint, then you shouldn't be too concerned.

Also the cost of a used front bumper plus shipping might get close to the cost of a new OEM. New OEM is not that much.

NBP is super easy to paint match the bumper.

But, in sun light there could be a slight pearl difference. Slight is the key word, nothing to be concerned about.

Personally, I would have a local do it for warranty purpose. I would want someone to fix it asap, if there was paint issues.

Black doesn't fade as drastic as other lighter colors. Also, they make paint so well now, if you take care of it you shouldn't have drastic color fade issues. If anything buffing/polishing the fenders will help create an even looking gloss level.

By the way, if anyone was considering this like I was....I sent him a note on eBay and he replied that the pic in the listing with an "Acura" embossed bumper was a mistake. So basically - it is just like all the others out there. I went in town anyway and found a friends' connection to sand and and repaint for $225. Things just work out sometimes.

I actually don't do much modding.. Only mod so far is Meisterschaft GT Exhaust for my M3, and my TSX is riding stock. Keeping that in mind while I say my next statement is that I personally don't trust buying car parts from eBay.

only one thing wrong with what was said about the 2007 bumper. the front grill will need to be changed as well along with the two lower grills.
a 2005 center grill and lower grills will not fit the 2007 model. sorry but that is additional cost.
one good thing is that you can later install factory original fogs and not those Honda fogs that you have to modify and dick around with
