Brother crashed My 2004 Acura TL 6sp MT
Hello all,
I used to read this site when I was driving my car up until a few years ago. I let my brother use it while out of state, and he lost control of the wheel and ran into a curb, damaging the frame, radiator, and setting off the airbags. Insurance said the car was totaled. The car only has about 110,000 miles and it ran great. I'm sure there are plenty of valuable parts to be had. I have the option of having the car returned to me for $420 with a salvage title. I would like to know if its worth it to take it back and try and sell it for parts. Anyone have information that could help me, or anyone interested in buying the car? It is in Miami Florida.
Thanks for any help.
Heath

The seats were in pretty good shape, no tears but there is some wear. Rear seats are excellent. Transmission should be excellent. I'm not sure how much time would be required, but prepared to hold it a couple months if need be. Not sure how much I can get over the $420 that would be worth it. Thanks for your reply.

Let it go. People buy back cars but the damage is greater than what they are capable of fixing and the cost to have
someone do the job, the total cost is greater than the car's value. If contemplating selling parts, forget that idea as
on the surface it sounds plausible but in reality one doesn't want to pull the parts, possibly ship, have the car sit for
months, then scrap the car.
Take it as loss on your taxes, if you can.

Haha...ugh... such a waste of a car.. I didn't want to make him feel too bad. Now he's wasting 300/month on a new lease. Only positive is the amount the insurance offered for the car, more than I thought I'd get.
