Brightness at night?
Does anyone like me feel the instrument panel is too bright and other backlit or light on the buttons or switches is too dark?
It's hard for me to find the balance of brightness level. There are 10 levels of brightness. My car is usually set around 4-6, however, I think this setting is still too glowing on the instrument panel and too dull on buttons/switches.
What do you think?

I'm ok with it at night, but if I have the lights on during the day - say if it is raining, with gray skies etc. I find it too dim, and then I make it brighter, but then the very next time I drive at night, it is lighting up my face. Daylight sensitivity should be a little better.

Agreed...
At night, when I get the guages where I want them, the rest of the dash is too dim for me.
It would be nice to be able to set the gauges with a seperate adjustment then have all the lights adjust on a master control, or some variation of that.

I agree with rets' comment. In addition, I think there should have been several levels of brightness between "Max" and the next level on the instrument pannel. My previous Accord had the same setting except it was far worse.

I'll have to side with Rets as well........I'll try to keep the illumination at the "middle" setting or slightly lower at night but I can't really see any of the backlit buttons on my wheel or other switches.
Thank goodness I'm still half-way young and I can remember which buttons are which.....or I would be in a world of poorly lit hurt.

Keep Right Except to Pass
I voted for the second one (instrument panel too bright, others too dim), but I would add two caveats to my vote.
First, for my normal driving in the DC area, there is enough light around that I have the instrument panel relatively bright and it is not annoying, and the others are not too dim.
Second, I've found that if I turn the instrument panel all the way down to minimum when I'm outside of the DC area where it's much darker and the lights are more distracting, the instrument panel is fine but the other lights are too dim. This is not that big a deal, though, because this is when the voice commands come in very handy, especially for the climate control.

solution to the problem:
acura needs to develop two "switches" of some sort...
1st switch controls just the speedometer/odometer area
2nd switch controls all the backlights of buttons/switches
if they do that, we'll be able to find that perfect "medium"

The weird thing is I seem to be the only one complaining this while driving. My passengers could see all the backlit buttons clearly. I told them that's because the driver is the only one checking that brightness panel, eyes cannot get with them...
Also, IMO, the BLUE light is another cause... if our instrument panel isn't full of BLUE, I "might" feel more comfortable...
Anyway, the BLUE makes this cabin cooler...

I am pretty happy with the intensity of the lighting. I do wish that the controls for the lighting were more intuitive such as a rotating ring on the light/dir sig stalk. When driving, too much of my attention is focused on just finding the control buttons that are hidden by the steering wheel.

The guages aren't really a problem for me, its the navi screen, sometimes its too bright (even in night mode) sometimes its not bright enough (in day mode) so I have to manually adjust the brightness than keep 1 setting. Its a little annoying, but it doesn't happen enough for me to care about it.

Voted #2 absolutely. For you young guys, just wait till your vision needs a little help, you won't be able to see the steering wheel controls. The speedo and tach is so bright you have trouble seeing anything else.
I would have prefered red since it is less obtrusive at night and more elegant.

Btw, RED isn't my favorite...
I like something mild... IMHO.
