I just hit 25,000 miles on my car. I think I hear some slight squealing when I step on the brakes. How many miles have you had before you needed new brakes? Just trying to get a feel if my brakes lasted awhile or I burned through them quickly.

Oh, I have a 2008 TL-S.

 

I think all TL-S models come with front Brembos. If so then some squealing seems to be the norm. Our '05 6spd manual TL comes with the same Brembo front brakes and it squeals slightly all the time.

It's also possible that the pads are worn down to the wear indicators, which would mean some brake work.

However, the sound caused by the wear indicators is more a metallic scraping than a squeal, and tends to be audible whenever the brakes are applied.

On our car, the squealing of the Brembo brakes typicallly occurs for a brief moment just as the pads touch the rotor and then goes away as more pressure is applied.

 

The only way you are going to be able to tell is pull a wheel off and check the pad thickness.

Brembo's don't seem to last very long unless you do a lot of highway driving.
